Forums - General Discussion - Punishment/penalty Mclaren got from FIA

I am a huge fan of Raikkonen and McLaren, it was great when they were together, still a fan of him at Ferrari. This whole season I have been wondering how McLaren cars ALL OF A SUDDEN became the most reliable in F1 after being one of the least reliable, which in turn has cost Raikkonen his chance of a driver's title these last two years!!! Interesting, I dont see how they could have just pulled off a complete 180 in one season, and if they find that the cars do happen to carry technology taken from another company illegally, then I dont see how it is fair to the other drivers for Alonso and Hamilton to keep all their points, but oh well. I really like Hamilton too btw, but I hate Alonso wih ALL MY PASSION!!!

Um, it sounds like you were definitely watching the 2005 season, but did you watch last year? Cuz the McLaren was rather reliable then, albeit not very fast. Again, this just circumstantial misinformation

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

i find it hard too believe that a crappy car -> turns into a good one in one year. (ooo and the secrets from the best team are just laying around doing nothing..... ) but it is no connection at al...... nope

Happens all the time in F1. 2004 saw the rise of the BAR Honda, 2005 saw a massive resurgence by McLaren, and 2007 again saw a big step forward for the silver arrow. There is no connection at all because your "evidence" is simply circumstantial. How bout bring some true mechanical evidence to the table like the fact that Mclaren decided to use a short wheel base for their car like most other teams, EXCEPT Ferrari. Ferrari is just about the only team to go with the longer wheel base, which significantly changes the vehicle dynamics. The FIA is trash, and F1 is completely out of touch with the fans. All the manufacturers need to pull out like they threatened to do so years ago.

2004-> bar was not running worldchamp, 2005 -> i think u mean renault?

edit : forget it i read the rest of ure post and al i see is nonsense.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Right, BAR wasn't world champion but they all of a sudden had a very good car that could outcompete traditional power houses like Williams-BMW and Mclaren-Mercedes. 2005 Renault won the world championship, but McLaren was right behind them in the standings. In fact McLaren won more races that year than Renault. And they did that after finishing a crappy 5th in the standings the year before. So how was my post nonsense? All I did was point out true things. Unless you're referring to my rant on wheelbases, which again is another truth. I guess you just can't handle the troof!

Edit: McLaren's jump between the 2004 and 2005 season was much bigger than the jump they made from 2006 to 2007. In 2004 they finished in 5th place and 2005 they finished in 2nd very  close to  Renault.  Last year Mclaren finished in 3rd and this year are currently in 1st, which is far less remarkable than 5th to 2nd.

King of chumps maybe.  Any time he was challenged by another great driver in a great car he got his ass beat.  Shumi would be nothing without Fia/Ferrari cheeting.

Senna is and for a long time will be the greatest ever!!!

that's the largest fine I have ever heard of!

''His driving sometimes created controversy: he was twice involved in collisions that determined the outcome of the world championship, most notably his disqualification from the 1997 championship for causing a collision with Jacques Villeneuve.'''

I didn'lt like him. He used ugly means to win championship.
