Halo certainly has the edge right now, considering how we haven't had a real GT game in so long, but it might change once GT 5 finally arrives.

 

I think Forza 3 will sell more than GT5, so I believe GT5 is already lagging behind!!!

psrock does make a great point in that PS3 games do not sell well in NA which is the area where people purchase most games (I think :/). I'm not going to guess numbers here but my guess is that GT5 will sell 2:1 Forza 3.......

On topic I really don't understand why people think GT is going to sell gangbusters with the PS3 install base.

So the popularity of a game franchise depends on userbase? Yea...tell that to MGS4 vs MGS3

 

MGS4 over MGS3 sales are nothing to shout home about.

GT5 Prologue has done very good and that's just a taste of what the franchise can do.

GT5 is casual and hardcore, kids who dream or driving expensive cars purchase the game. Adults who dream of driving cars they will never be able to drive buy the game. First one with online too, if it is fixed to actually be playable that will push up the legs even more which is quite something.
