Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker on the DS got the same score, and sold 1.47 million in Japan.

Of course, a few things need to be taken into account:

1.) Dragon Quest is more popular in Japan than Final Fantasy.
2.) There are 16 million Japanese DS owners, but only 6.66 million Japanese PSP owners.
3.) The PSP's attach rate in Japan is horrid.

You forget something extremly important : the DS has some real monsters : Nintendogs , Mario , Brain Training etc. FF games sold well , million + in the Jap teritories , but seeing the install base those are poor numbers for a FF game . Every 3rd Jpanese DS owner has Nintendogs , and I expect that every 3rd PSP owner will have CC , meaning ~2 millions ... why because Nintendogs is the DSs main game while CC is the PSPs . Also , if piracy would be that horrible , we wouldent have million + seller , now would we ?

GTA sold so many millions mainly due to being later re-released as a Platinum-budget title. If the same doesn't happen with CC I highly doubt it will do well.

CC isn't the PSP's main game... it's a spinoff lol. CC is much more comparable (especially in Japan) to DQ Monsters: Joker than it is to Nintendogs. Nintendogs is a runaway hit on a system with a very high attach rate. CC is a spinoff on a system with the worst attach rate in VGC recorded history lol. I really just can't see how you can possibly expect this to do better than 3 million worldwide lifetime sales.

Unfortunatly CC is the PSPs main hit . I say unfortunatly because a remake or a nother main game would have sold batter , just like DQ9 will on the PSP . CC is from far the biggest game that will grace the PSP in the recent future , and I agree that CoO has a shot to sell well , but not CC well . My prediction : CC 5-6 million WW , CoO 2 million WW .

GTA also allowed people with later firmware versions to run homebrew, and even downgrade to more pirate friendly firmware.

^^ forgot about that. Very important.

I teresting that Lumines didnt got that huge boost , so I dont think that the statement stands solid as rock for you :?

If Square wants to ride the Final Fantasy main series down the drain that's fine, but for the love of god stop raping FF7, I loved that game, why are you doing this to your game?! Was the slow period between FFX and FFXII really so unbearable for you that you had to default on spin-offs of the last game you could truly call an over-arching success?!

Advent Children - So-So Movie, pretty and some parts were really good, mostly it was slow though and others were a little too highschool fangirl drama-rific for my taste.

Dirge of Cerberus - I pray every night that someone was killed as punishment for this game or at least the ending.

The Cell Phone Games - Great, because we needed some of the most important parts of the story that never really needed to be told in the first place put into an impracticle game format that is by and large inaccessable to the western fanbase. Good going.

Crisis Core - Jury is still out but looking at how they've handled everything else that has been updated in FF7 it will most likely be a dissapointment.

The only things in these newer additions to FF7 that have remained intact are those Square is either too intimidated to change (sephiroth) or those they care too little about (Red-13, Cait Sith, etc) meanwhile everything else inbetween (Cloud, Tifa, etc) get a nice emo-rific overhaul. Hell there's not even an option for the original japanese dialouge so we're stuck with the five dollar english voice actors Square's regionalization seem so fond of using for the western releases. At least FF12 had good voice acting I suppose.

Face it, the only thing that has changed for the better in these newer editions to FF7 is the turks Reno and Rude.

So basically there was 1 CG movie, 1 so-so third-person shooter (still great cutscenes and backstory), and 1 cell phone game (and have you even played it?  I don't count the snowboarding game that was in FF7 as a seperate game...and it certainly does not diminish the franchise)

Now, there is a great PSP prequel.  Settle down.

Lumines went through the same thing, but it didn't sell hundreds of thousands just for that reason.  Most people that homebrew don't need a downgrader.  Just new users.

^^Lumines sold tremendously for a puzzle game. And its downgrading function has just been 'exploited'.

Well, I still think you are crazy lol.  It's very unlikely that CoO will sell better than GoW2, which barely broke 1 million.  CC is a spinoff, and I can't think of a spinoff ever selling anywhere near that... much less a spinoff of a 10 year old game on a system with only a 23 million user base.
