Forums - Gaming Discussion - What was the first game to BLOW YOUR MIND?

Okami. There are several other games that were amazing and wonderful, but nothing that could match Okami.

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

Metal Gear Solid 1, too many mind blowing moments....

There's definitely a lot for me, probably too many to list, though I guess I'll just pick a couple for each catagory.

JRPG - my first real one was FFVI, obviously I was blown away by it. Chrono Trigger and FFX may have given me about the same impact.

MMO - EQ is my first. I'll make fun of it with my friends now about how much of a waste of time it was, but the reality is, it was my first MMO experience. The first time stepping into a massive world filled with players everywhere was really something...

Ocarina of Time really got to me as well. The story, setting, graphics and everything just blew me away. I recall being amazed at something as silly as the passing of day/night in that game, hah.

I think that's it. Many of my favorite games of all time didn't quite blow me away (mainly Blizzard/PC games), they sorta... I dunno, eased into their place of awesomeness. I know I thought WCII's opening cinematic was awesome, but I can't imagine me having been blown away by an RTS in general (can't remember). I think I'm too hyped for many games to surprise me that much, anyway.

splinter cell, first game with separated fingers

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

final fantasy 8. that was the first game that blow my mind away. but is not my favorite, is my second favorite.

I would have to say Final Fantasy X. At that time, I never played a game like that. I was so use to playing casual games. I thought the storyline and the gameplay was very unique and something I haven't seen before.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Doom shareware

I thought I was a gamer, playing all my nintendo and sega stuff, then I played this. Forever my life had changed

Probably Final Fantasy 1. I'd just been playing arcadish games until then, so just the comparative level of depth was really amazing

Blank? Blank.

Banjo-Kazooie, the worlds and music blew my mind
Still my favorite game of all time

call of duty 4. It was so amazing and so realistic. Now games try to copy it.
