New game releases will change things. 18 to 25k in weekly sales for Wii in japan is pretty good. A big game release to notch Wii into the 50k to 70k region and build some momentum. Of all regions Wii price cut in Japan could be used as last resort. Wii so far ahead of competition it does not really matter its sales drop closer to its rivals.

Just blame the bad state of the world economy. Consumers are trying to save instead of spend in uncertain times. Consumers do not see consoles and video games as necessary items.

The only thing Nintendo has to do WAKE UP. Stop being so lazy, how could they thing that Wii Music and Animal Crossing would be titles that would fit correctly the holiday season and may force people to buy a Wii? How could they think that Remakes from GameCube could compite against games like RE5, SF4 or Yakuza3? Launch quality software! Launch BIG titles with high developments costs, people is not silly and will get tired of crap titles.

Despite that fact, here is a list of guilties games that will avoid the Wii to fall in the forgotten in Japan:

Final Fantasy: Crystal Bearers
Monster Hunter G
Tales of 10
Samurai Warrior 3
WiiSportsResort
Monster Hunter 3
Kirby Wii
Pikmin 3
Dragon Quest X
.....

I am not sure about how big may be Pikmin 3 in Japan, but for sure Kirby should have a similar effect on Wii than it had on DS with Kirby SuperStarUltra.

Nintendo just need a few weeks of decent software.

In their position I would be rushing some fast cheap sequels like Mario Party 9, Wii Play Volume 2, Wii Fit Volume 2, Warioware Smooth Moves 2 etc.

I also think that instead of the "play on Wii" Gamecube titles..they would have attracted far more sales by re-doing the graphics on some 2D classics and releasing them at budget prices..

Wii is going to follow the trend of the sega saturn in japan

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I'm more worried about Nintendo's lack of attention on the matter; it's as if they see no problem at all; no bundes, price-drops, colors or any other incentives to revive the console, especially in the SW front (as the HW is certainly capable of driving sales as is).

no; i think it is perfectly justifiable. sales have slowed, and it's about time nintendo start to address the issue. they may have started already.

DS went through a similar drought in Japan, as the psp launched..then the flood came and the rest is history.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
