Enjoy second/third place again, Sony.

If MS also do this I'm going to facepalm like 10 times. If they do, it would basically become a recreation of this gen where Sony and MS just claw at each other while Nintendo just sits there with the cash rolling. At least this time, the Wii 2 should get support from the beginning due to the Wii being the winner of this gen and al.

Not really.  The Wii mote craze will have worn off.  Nintendo got away with one this gen but it won't be sustained.

Who said anything about doing a Wii remote next gen? They could try something completely different. But say they make another Wii remote, I doubt it'd have "worn off".

Do you really think they will divert from their current cash cow?  Doubtful. Extremely doubtful.   Nintendo's effect this generation will have worn off because quite honestly their lack of games is stunning.

Yes, because Nintendo haven't been making money pretty much non stop for 20 or so years anyway!

Did

Did you just go into "Wii is a fad" territory

Nope.  Not entirely atleast.  The Wii is part fad /  part perfect low priced entry into the market this generation.

The jump to the HD generation was filled with high costs for development stuidos,  high costs to develop the technology for the consoles,  high costs for the building of engines from the ground up, high costs for setting up viable, huge online networks.

All of this fell right into the hands of Nintendo and the Wii.

The 2nd HD generation won't have nearly the same pitfalls as the current one had.

You of course realize that implying that it's part fad implies that...

Look, you say they have no games

Do yo urealize the Wii is on its way to selling more software than the PS2?

I would love a SD -> HD type leap for PS4 as long as it doesn't end up costing another $600 large. I'm willing to pay that much but it means I have a couple hundred less to spend on games.

Thank god Nintendo has been so successful in the hand-held business because after most of their abortions of consoles overall after the SNES,  they are lucky to have not gone the way of Sega.

It's not a rip on Nintendo at all.

I just think it's very naive to believe that Nintendo will get by with 7 or 8 year old technology and continue to keep it up.  The problem with garnering a huge, casual market is that many will keep casually playing their original Nintendo Wii  not caring about a sequel.

I don't understand, if development costs for devs are already so high that many developers and publishers are posting horrible losses and/or going bankrupt, then why would they want such a huge leap again? Wouldn't that just shoot their development costs up even more astronomically high?

Chasing perfection... and it'll lead to the death of the industry.

Maybe devs now have a secret formula for cutting costs. After all, they were the ones who filled out the poll.

That's exactly why I'm so confused about all of this.

Maybe the huge third party devs are trying to push out the smaller ones, buy them out, and form an Oligopoly? :P

They have to be prepared. The Nintendo barbarians are at the gates, ready to destroy the industry. A united front is their only chance!

Why can't anybody make us a fucking Flash game with this exact plot?  Or an RTS where you can play as Nintendo, Sony, Sega, Microsoft, Atari, EA, Ubisoft, or Activision?  The units could all be fanboys, trolls, reviewers, hardcores, casuals, etc., and you could have special weapons like banhammers (insta-kill all trolls of one army), negative mainstream press, or whatever a Babyz-Imagining doomsday weapon?  Nintendo would be destroying the whole industry and you have to decide whether to fight them, join them, or try to play both sides of the fence.

If nothing else it would be a bitching fanfic.

It's mostly shovelware.  I have played very few good games on the Wii.  That's what is sad about it.   I know I won't be buying a Wii 2 unless they seriously get some software (Which if the past several Nintendo generations are any indicatons, they won't be).

Honestly,  Do you believe the Wii has a better lineup of games than the PS2?

I bet Next Generation Nintendo is going to make a console stronger than whatever Sony and Microsoft makes with some other new feature.

thanks sony
