The way I'm thinking is most of the PS2 owners that bought a PS3 and RE4 will get RE5, now RE5 will HAVE to attract new customers to beat RE4 Wii, if it does then it can easily beat RE4 Wii if it doesn't it's got a tough time ahead as I'm sure not everyone that bought RE4 and a PS2 bought a PS3.

RE sales have been declining and even more since capcom decided Japan wasn't needed to sell a game that used to sell best in Japan

RE5 is even more of a shooter than RE4 (I bet the Japanese won't be thrilled)

RE4 sold 2.73 million on ps2

Many people who had ps2s bought 360s and wiis instead this time around

If all the people who bought the ps2 version of RE4 buy RE5 (which I doubt considering I know people who bought 4 and won't touch 5 with a 15ft pole), ps3 still won't have anything close to 2 mil sales.

Ps3 also has a ridiculously lower userbase than ps2 and now that sites have claimed that the ps3 version of re5 is worse than the 360 version, ps360 owners will mostly chose the 360 version

I'd expect it to be close. I don't think it will sell 2 million... but it should sell over 1 easy.

Wii has twice userbase as ps3 so it could go either way and if Killzone 2 gets alot more attention than Re5 so Capcom should market it quite heavily conclusion if ps3 version outsell it it will be close but not surprised if Re4 sales are bigger.

Haha, Lets say the Wii version sells 2 million in total - easily achieveable considering its currently on 1.77 and still selling.

You then predict the PS3 version will easily outsell this, say reaching 2.5 mill. Any less would not be 'easily'

You also predict the 360 version to sell 2-3 X more than the Wii version, which is equivalent to saying it will sell 3-4X as much as the Wii version

So you're total predictions for RE5 are 8.5-10.5 million, for a series which is declining in popularity, and has never had a game sell over 6 million.

NM: It came to me that you may have actually meant the 360 version would sell 1-2X more than the Wii version ie 2-3 X as much as the Wii version for total sales of

6.5-8.5 million. This is still a very amusing claim

What is more interesting is how the hype for RE5 has now suddenly died off once the demo arrived....I thought the controls were supposed to be okay...

But that is neither here nor there.

I believe that the sales for the PS3 RE5 may be close to the Wii RE4, but it might sadly be a bit off...which would be a tell-tale sign that the series might need an identity check. The question "what is an RE game really?" needs to be answered, and soon. Is it a shooter or a survival-horror game?

If the biggest complaint becomes the controls, then Capcom really needs to update those as well...oh boy.

I guess we will only know once the game comes out.

If the big complaint is controls, then the wii is obviously the solution. But, the complaints are more than that. Its not survival horror as much anymore as it is a fps. They need to get back to the low ammo, fewer enemies, but creepier settings/enemy battles.

I think a new RE in the form of the first or second would be the best bet for capcom. And, put it on the wii with the superior controls.
