Do you think Sony expected to be close to Microsoft this holiday? I would say yes. Don't forget Sony touting LBP as a system seller etc.

Sony got kicked real hard this holiday. Just recheck the numbers. 1 Million overshipping is definitely not out of the question, and then we have 1 million PS3's on shelves, which is not ridiculous.

Last year Sony also channel stuffed in Q3 btw.

Hey Benga, it might explain all the retailers spontanious sales they have been having recently. If they expected far greater PS3 sales, up rather than down they may have too many PS3s on hand.

i can't see vgchartz being that far off, i mean we have NPD numbers through december, Japan numbers are very reliable, and we got statements showing that 360 is leading by at least a milllion in Europe right now.

Just because its illegal does not mean they don't do it. Big corporations in trouble always pad their numbers to deceive investors. If you watch cspan long enough, you will see that its a re occuring theme in big business. In fact, this whole economic crisis happened because of shady business practices on wall street.
