Forums - Sony Discussion - Warhawk Reviewed!!! AAA Title confirmed

Hus: System, I own not, but I still will be playing it with my Ps3 owning friend who refuses to play FPS's against me, but is quite happy to be on the same team. So however he buys it, is the format I'll be playing.

Seriously... look a site before you decide if the reviews are credible or not.

IGN actually tends to rate the average of EGM and Play magazine as the average EGM Ranking is about a 7 and the Average Play magazine ranking is about an 8. IGN's average ranking about a 7.5

Personally saying an average game is a 7 is fair to me not being harsh. It's just the average for all the reveiwers is high because you have a lot of reviewers like Play Magazine handing out 8's left and right and fewer magazines like EGM dropping the hammer on games i doesn't like. (For fear of the company getting pissed at them.)

Erm, so you're buying a headset with a game as an afterthought? I could swear it was the other way around, with a headset being thrust unto you.

I still can't help but say you're really paying full price for this game, unless you download it. And then you're paying Full Price minus cost of a blue ray disc. Though will probably play faster.

Jeesh, I know I'm new here and all and probably shouldn't be talking down to someone with as many posts as Fuzzmosis, but come on. What's so hard to understand? If you pay $40 that is not full price no matter how you try to look at it. You pay $40, you get the game=not full price. You pay $40+$20=$60 for the game+headset=still not full price.

You have to pay full price unless you download it. There is no $40 option in the shops that comes without the headset. What fuzz is saying is that your paying $60 for this game, sure you get a nifty headset but apart from downloading it the only way to get it is to pay the $60. Downloading is another matter, clearly its not full price to download.

When you put it that way...nope still doesn't make sense to me how it can be considered a full priced game.

Sorry.  Maybe I just can't see it the way you guys do, but I see value in a headset, so I don't really see it as a bonus, more of a package I guess.

I think I understand where you guys are coming from though, because maybe you see owning a game as having a physical copy?

Anyway, something nobody has brought up as far as I remember reading is the fact that you can share downloaded games across 5 PS3s, so if you split the cost amongst your friends, you'll only be paying $8.  Not too bad eh?

I think they don't count it as a full price game because you lose a lot by downloading it.  For example, boxart, instruction manual, plenty of stuff you'd get for a full priced game.

You also lose the blue ray disc, which itself costs a lot.  Which is why the download can be cheaper.  By just downloading it you lose a lot of features.  For example if you wanted to go over you friends house and play Warhawk on his PS3 you couldn't.  You would have to either have him come to your house (Which might not be possible based on what your doing).  Or unplug your PS3 and bring it over to his house.  Considering how much it's worth i wouldn't want to be lugging the thing around everywhere i went.

Not only can you not bring it to your friends house, nor could you trade it with him as if you owned the in store copy.  With the instore copy you could trade it for say, Lair if you didn't pick it up.  Then he could play Warhawk online while you kick ass with a dragon.  With a download version... well you'd have to trade PS3's.  Which just doesn't work out because of all the other PSN downloads you'd have.

Also, should you decide you don't like it... you can't return it to the store for store credit, nor could if you get tired of it a few months from now trade it in to get a new game as you could with the Blu-ray version.

You lose a lot of options for that 20 dollars that you'd get normally with a regular full game.

Hmm, this review is a bit too optimistic. Graphics above 9? No way. This game gets solid scores but I think it will be something like 8.0 - 8.5...

@ Kasz216

Personally I like IGN because I mostly agree with theirs scores. (ok... Puzzle Quest isn't worth anything more than 7.5) I can buy a game without hesitation if it's scored 8 or more. 8 is a good game for me. Nothing less nothing more. It's one of the reason EGM reviews piss me off - for me 5 is total crap not average - for them it's average.

I can see right now that IGN will dock a point from Warhawk because it's Online only and doesn't offer a offline mode. They did that to Madden just because it's running at 30 fps and honestly I can't tell much of a difference between those two versions.

But Warhawk will be a game that I buy, not only for the game, but for the headset as well.

I'll wait for bigger reviews before celebrating but what I played was great so I don't expect this not to get good reviews.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Ahhh you used a double negative ckmlb! :) Just teasing ya, it's a bit confusing if you read it quickly like I did at first. Basically from what you experienced you are expecting good reviews all around.

Unless more games are good than bad (which I think the opposite is true) like a 7 is there average review for a game.  (All there reviews when added up and divided by 10 come out to about a 7.  Meaning if games were distributed on a bell curve as far as quality goes a 7 would be the ranking an average game would be, since you base an "average" game vs it's peers it doesn't nessisarily mean it has to be on a bell curve.)  So an EGM review of a 7, IGN review of 7.5 or Play Magazien review of 8 is pretty much statistically average as far as PS3 games go.

Thanks ssj12 for enlightening me as to what Warhawk really is.

Now I am more than certain that the game will not be the multi million seller hit people percieve it to be.
It just won't add up, I sure as hell wouldn't pay full price for a game without a single player experience. First up, there are lots of more entitled games like Warhawk on the market already, furthermore home consoles aren't exactly the greatest thing to be on for these type of games. I mean just how many copies did the SOCOM sell in total?

Deep into the darkness pearing

Long i stood there

Wondering

Fearing

Doubting.

Wojtas, Socom 1 sold over 3.5 million, Socom 2 was higher, but I cant' find the exact number here on VG chartz for 2, 3 and CA. It's one of Sony's strong titles that always sells quite well and I'd expect Socom Confrontation to sell very well too. There were many who were utterly addicted to the online in those games (Not so much for 3 and CA which fans bought but stopped playing after not very long).
