UN bombs Gaza Run School in Israel.

This isn't a joke...

yes it is, at least i hope so, the UN (United Nations) is there to protect civilians, israel is the one bombing them

What gets me is how Israel can continue to call Hamas terrorists. One look at Israel's policies and operations toward and in Gaza shows that they are the ones causing terror and slaughtering innocent civilians.

The world stands by, doing nothing.

thats exactly what im saying, Israel has acted in ways worse than hamas in this war, yet the UN cant act because the US vetos all UN treaties aimed at a ceasefire, as long as the US backs Israel the UN cant act, perhaps the US should have its right to veto removed?

I agree, why the U.S has veto power in the first place I don't know, for time after time it has blocked treaties that are in the interest of the world and the people living in it but not in the interest of themselves. Such a selfish and irresponsible country should not be allowed so much power.

Being the driving force behind the entity's creation and largely funding it throughout its existence might have something to do with it.

Stop it with the country bashing. If you don't have a constructive criticism over policy with details to back up your opinion, don't bitch when you get issued a warning in this thread.

As much as I am for not murdering children, I feel I must ask: has this sort of outrage been raised against the organizations (Hamas?) responsible for the hundreds of deaths Israel has sustained from suicide and car bombers and rocket strikes?
I'm not saying this justifies bombing a school, but I am curious as to why Israel is being so scrutinized for any negative effects of this campaign, effects which it has enduring for years now.

of course that has been pointed out, why do you think hamas are hated around the world, the problem is Israel continues to enter gaza and when they do the palestinians want to defend themselves and so they turn to hamas, to break that cycle Israel must recognize a Palestinian state and Hamas must disarm

Then why has Israel been the one left to defend itself?  From what I've been seeing (perhaps inaccurately), a good bit of the U.N. nations are calling on Israel to stop this.  Have they done the same with the Hamas?  If so, it obviously hasn't done anything, and one would think a sdifferent tactic would be employed, considering the amount of outrage this particualr issue has raised.

And what good would Israel's recognition of Palestine do?  Doesn't the Hamas want to wipe out Israel?

parts of hamas do, yes, but the palestinian people just want to be recognized by the world as an independent state, if we recognize the palestinian state then support for the elements of hamas that want to kill israel will lose alot of support and the UN can take action to make sure that israel and gaza recognize eaches others soverignty and stop antagonizing and attacking each other

That seems like a very difficult assertion to make; how powerful is the Hamas?

In any event, I don't know how much direct national support the Hamas would need to keep operating as it does; it's a terrorist organization.  How does the Al qaeda do it without some nation explicitly supporting it?

hes not country bashing, hes stating a fact, the US continues to stop UN attempts at brokering a ceasefire, if you cant face the truth thats your problem not his, i dont care that youre a mod, you should not make false accusations of members. NO country should have the right to veto in my opinion, US, UK, Russia, China or anyone else.

I'm not country bashing. I'm stating my opinion. I don't believe any country should have the power to veto as it places too much power in a single country. However, we were also discussing America and therefore America's veto power was the only country's brought up.

I haven't been issued a warning in this thread, atleast not to my knowledge.

Hamas is not seen as a player in an international level. In fact, I believe that the organization was blacklisted by the UN and most western countries. The government does not recieve any aid whatsoever and I believe that the Palestinians are only helped through direct means, like the school this topic is about.

Why Israel is scrutanized is because of one reason, by me at least: they have the means to do it differently. I believe the Mossad is one of the best special forces in the world... they have one of the best military's in the world period. Why would they use 2000 pound bombs if they could very well send in a sniper team of the Mossad? They might even take prisoners thus not turn victims into marters.

The situation is way to fucked up now with respect to civilian deaths and atrocities. We mostly get the news viewed from the Palestine side. today... I saw a group of Israeli's simply executing a man they had strip-searched and naked on the ground already. I saw women being dragged across the ground for no apparant reason. Soldiers taking pictures with their kills... all acts that are punishable by any international court.

So what's Israel supposed to do?  Wait for the suicide bombing and rocket supplies to run out?  They had to invade.

or at least they would be if the US didnt veto any attempt to do so (this is a fact, so do not accuse me of US bashing, i have friends who are american, and i have no issue with most things your country does, but sometimes your country does wrong, so does mine, if you cant see your own countrys flaws whose can you see?)
