he used the ds because when the ds first was released it struggled. but after the dslite hit it soared like a mofo.

basically its a sound comparison, the ps3 is struggling, some say, in its first 2 years. and devs are just now getting the hang of it and a price cut is just around the corner (and heck maybe slim model around the corner after you round the first corner to the price cut)

those who say insert wii in said place doesnt make since. the wii hasnt struggled one bit. he wants to know if the ps3 can make a turn around like the ds did
The problem with this theory is that the DS didn't have another hand held that got pretty much the same games as the PS3 has with the 360. Plus a lot of the success of the DS comes from it's innovative touch screen. The same with the Wii. There's really no innovation with the PS3.

The ps3 is atleast as innovative as the wii, probably more.

The amount of ps3 hate in this topic is at a level where it's almost unbelievable.

I've said it before, (having actually read the op unlike half the people who posted in the thread) the ps3 will have a huge rise in sales once it reaches mass market. I also still believe it'll pass the 360 once that happens (aslong as it's within a reasonable amount of time)

The tripple has yet to reach it's peak.

How do you figure that?

pseye, (it is innovation, even if they don't use it properly yet.. i wish they would though) sixaxis (sixaxis can be awesome, and it's motion controlling too. The wii doesn't provide proper motion sensing either so which one you wanna go with is 50 50.. the difference is just that the sixaxis was made to suppliment your gaming experience, not replace it. (ie. heavenly sword)) the os, (sorta :p) not to mention the unique and advanced hardware. You can innovate in many ways.

@Staude: I see. I don't entirely disagree, but I guess it's the fact that Nintendo knows how to realize their potential coupled with the fact that Sony is at a total loss when it comes to supporting their own peripherals (particularly the PSeye) making the Wii's innovations vastly overshadow the PS3's, at least in perception. I mean, the Wii has changed how people play games (and who plays them), while the PS3 just hasn't.

That is true (well to be fair, the the ps1 and ps2 changed it too, but it's true that the ps3 has not) , and it's a shame. here the other day i saw what was basically wii fit for the ps2 using the eyetoy. And the ps eye is so much more powerful then the eyetoy. They could make games that uses 100 percent motion tracking of your body if they got to grip with it. I think sony should bundle the pseye and make some more advanced pseye games then what they have done so far.  Now that it's currently just a accessory, they won't know who has it and who doesn't, hence it ruins the point of making big games based on it.

The only thing i heard was the developers of endwar who were going to implement the pseye as a way to move around with your arms instead of the controller. Unfortunately i think they dropped it again (it's multiplat, and probably focus on other things.)

Why not.....with the 10 year cycle by then devs should get the hang of it and put out some great stuff. Or it can be too pricey for devs and it never materializes. Remember Sony is trying to market the power of the cell beyond gaming to medicine, who knows what can happen.

How so?  At least provide some examples of why you might think this.

Edit:  I see you did.  Not very convincing though, especially since the 6-axis never caught on (I would consider it a failure).

I don’t get it the PS3 is nothing new it has the same stuff as the generation before it so what’s their to get used to? The DS had two screens and one of them touch and it hade the mic as well. That’s something to get used to because that’s new. As others said why not use the Wii?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

the sixaxis did what it was supposed to. It was supposed to compliment the already functional playstation pad, not replace it. It does this in many games, i guess the best example is Heavenly sword which is so much more awesome with the sixaxis then it would have been without. Other good examples are Wipeout HD(to bring in a newer game) and Warhawk. :)

Errrr ... not really.

No, I do not think that the PS3 will get a surge in third party support at some later date.

I believe that will happen to the Wii. The sales of the Wii give more and more incentive each day, and eventually third parties will figure out what people want.
