If microsoft puts out forza 3 within gt5's radar, it will not sell. its very simple. the same way that resistance 2 is suffering from being released within call of duty's radar.

don't kid yourselves guys. forza has nothing on gt in sales. the prologue alone has already sold 2 million.

A Forza 3 has every possibility of being a large title, also consider this...if Forza 3 were theoretically released in 09 the game would probably be a large step up for from 2 for 2 big reasons

large sale of Forza 2 would help fund better development
Turn-10 would realize that they would be going up against GT5 which is THE titan of racing games

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

while i agree GT5 WILL sell better than the theorized Forza 3 saying that Forza 3 would not sell at all on a system with a larger install base and game attachment rate than the ps3 just doesn't make much sense

its not good to put star ocean 4 in a list of big exclusives btw. star ocean as a series has never been big. i doubt it'll make a million.

You're right Mass Effect wasn't a marquee title cause it was a new IP. Just like Fable wasn't for the original Xbox..

But Mass Effect 2, the sequel to the original box office smash Mass Effect will be.. just like Fable 2

The similarities between the two titles are pretty interesting, both where WRPG's, both new IP's, both have flaws but yet managed AAA status. So I expect Mass Effect 2 to have similar results as Fable 2.

very good point since Bungie already announced they are working on at least 2 other titles besides Halo 3: ODST, however we don't know if they will make a 09 release or if they are even going to be Xbox exsclusive, probably will be but Bungie has stated they would consider muli-plat development
