Forums - Sales Discussion - Analysis: First week CoD WaW Wii major flop, Medal of Honor breaks 500k

Well it definitely didn't do anywhere what I though it would do first week but it's doing better than MOHH2 did in its first week. Which of course isn't saying much but yea. I thought about 175k but it's looking more about 50k-100k. I had pointed out that it was very hard to predict simply because hype was hard to judge for the title.

So yea it's looking not so great but I'll give it a couple of weeks before I make judgment.

Am not surprised at alll.....

Well can't say I'm surprised either because I knew it was either going to do something like this or possibly somewhere in the 100k-200k range. Just hype is hard to judge and looks like the 50k-100k is where it will be.

But once again I'll wait to see how it does with Black Friday week and go from there.

Chrizum...did you just post something less than glowingly optimistic for a wii game? Dammit, you are wrong I say! WAY off base, there are lots of reasons you are probably wrong, and I refuse to acknowledge that you might be right until VGchartz says something, and after that NPD, then I will either forget about this whole mess of a topic or explain why it's actually completely normal/expected/a good thing that it's sold so poorly compared to it's HD cousins. Now get out of my topic!

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

You're funny.

Though I think the topic remained quite civilized.

It's stayed civil enough, but there's a definite knee jerk reaction.

You know, CoD isn't your typical day 1 purchase title. I would assume that it will sell a bunch during christmas, so don't fret just yet.

It's amazing all these Wii games that aren't day 1 purchases...

False.

Does that work out to be a double-negative, or was that just crappy editing? You decide!

Huh? He was talking about the ability to sell GOOD 3rd party titles (a positive), and I said false (a negative). How is that then a double-negative?

It seems that it's the natural system of damage control by Wii fans.

I just don't "get" how Super Smash Brothers Brawl can sell 2.8 million copies in one week. Mario Kart Wii can sell 2.4 million copies in a week, and even Wii Fit can sell 1.6 million units at $99.99 each in a week, yet games like Madden 09, and Call of Duty 5 do very horrible and are labled "games that aren't Day-1 purchases". What kind of bizarro world is this?

Wii fans CAN buy massive amounts of copies on day-1. Problem is, they seem to need to be either family/casual games, or games under the Nintendo umbrella.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

@mrstickball: Instead of horribly trolling, read my post. I think you may find some answers there.
