Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Tales of Symphonia DotNW Review - 6.7 Im still buying it.=)

I don't pay much attention to IGN reviews anyway. I know this game is not going to be Vesperia quality, but I sure I will enjoy it just as much as any other good game I play.

Still when it comes to EU it is a day one purchase for me. He is moaning about Gameplay a lot, but Wii fans do Need a classic JRPG, and what if it is a standard story and adventure. Shame that its only 6.7 i expected at least 7.5 eh IGN

I don't know if I need to trust his review or not. The previous game got a better score, so how come this got a much lower one?

Who knows, but I have the feeling that all the media is hating on the Wii, they can never find something good about it, there's always something to complain.

But maybe he's right and I'm talking BS, after all this game is a spin-off, and it wasn't really successful in Japan. Maybe that's why Namco hasted and announced that the next mothership title will be coming to the Wii, since probably this is just a piss poor job and fans would have really gotten pissed if they hadn't done so.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Instabuy for me. I'll have it tomorrow... Well, actually, I'll have it Wednesday because I'll be able to sneak down to Delaware (no tax!) and grab it along with Call of Duty (pending reviews) and a DS.

Daemon's not a Tales fan at all and it really shows. I'm sure fans of Symphonia will love it. I wouldn't be bothered by this review too much.

Wow ign just saved me from wasting cash :D

Confirmed: Mainstream sites are so biased against the Wii that they're now knocking Wii games for things that they wouldn't knock PS360 games for.

Ever heard of Blue Dragon?

And maybe, just maybe, Vespersia is better? But no, it can't be. IGN is biased, that's the only explanation.

IGN is biased. its obvious. do you think they knocked gears of war 2 for being linear? i know they didnt. the fact that they said that about this game just tells me that there is hardly anything to complain about.

I'll be getting this game as well, but as a holiday gift.  Reviews from people who have not even played previous entries in a game series is the last thing that I'd call reliable, and it got a fairly solid score in Famitsu, so it can't be THAT bad.  Besides, I LOVED the first SYMPHONIA, and I expect this one to be a fun, if not equally awesome, second chapter.

Still buying it.

I knew from the start it wouldn't be as good as a main series, like Tales of Vesperia. However, I highly doubt it isn't worth the pricetag - I mean, it's $37 on Amazon. Also, I'm dying to have a console RPG (I don't have a 360), so this will have to suffice!

As for IGN being biased, not so sure. It's possible they intentionally picked the wrong guy to review the game, but that might be pushing it. They gave Tales of Vesperia (likely a much better game) only an 8.2, and JRPG's score lower for them in general, so it isn't so far off... subtract another ~0.5 due to the guy's tastes, and 6.7 makes sense.

The New World is a lot like the old one.

JRPGs seems to have trouble getting AAA scores unless it is a main FF game. Not sure why though? FPSs can get away with being linear but JRPGs can't.
