The game is getting many average reviews, not just from gamespot. I didn´t like the original game and I´m pretty sure this one will be worse. ToV is coming early next year so I´ll buy it, it should be worth like TotA. As far as ToS2, doubt I´ll be getting it, unless I´m desperate and there´s a drought in games. ToV though will be more than enough to keep my needs for over 80 hours.

if you didn't like the original how comes you like Tales of Vesperia?

sales tell more than reviews, and Tales of Symphonia is selling much better!

btw, how can a game with such a great story, so much depth, strategy and everything get a 6.7....

the music is amazing, and the music gets 5.0??

get a taste of how great this game is:

no absolutely not. You like what you like irregardless of sales or reviews but I generally find reviewers to be more  in tune with great games than the general public so I won't say either is the best way to go but reviews definitely say a lot more than the game. At least they tell you why it's rated the way it is whereas sales just tell you that you could be different from a LOT of people.

Ok, so I'm about 16 hours into the game, and overall I enjoy it, but I have my complaints.

1) I can never seem to get monsters. They always run away. I don't know if there is a "better" way to do it, or if it is just based on luck.

2) Emil is a wuss

3) I can't walk around as the Characters from the old game

4) they don't tell you how many times you used an arte. It was nice having that in the last game, cause I could easily find my new ones and use them, while now I have to remember all the names of ones I've used before.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

this is the only bad (very bad) thing in this game

everything else is great

i know we shoulnd't judge a game just from sales or reviews, but at least sales are based on a lot of people's opinion rather than just a person giving 6.7 to such a game, i don't really care as long as sales are not affected largely....

also, i read a lot of times that the particular person doesn't like PRG's

anyway, the game is great, and it's selling great!

if the game was bad it wouldn't sell.... and i hope it keeps selling cause it deserves it

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I didn´t like Symphonia. Haven´t played Vesperia yet since it´s not out here yet. I really liked Tales of the Abyss so I have faith in Tales.

Well after beating it this game definitely doesn't deserve a 6.7. More like a 7.5-8.5 in my book. And it has its flaws but ending was just so beautiful. Haven't got that emotional about an ending since Zelda: TP.

From what I've seen from vids you just have to use magic or elemental arte that corresponds with the element of the monster that you're trying to catch until all the circles on the left of the screen fill up with the same color. After that, kill it. You don't have to have the same element as the monster all the time, but it's best if you do because it gives you more chance of getting it.

well, that would help. I always just used fire, cause it was the easiest arte to use.

Yep. Soriku's right. I need to catch more monsters myself on the second playthrough.

But more people need to get this game. Just a great game. I mean if ya don't like RPGs then nothing I can do about that but it's got a nice mix between traditional RPG and a Pokemon style one.

I bought the game on Black Friday but Im waiting for my return to Mexico to play it

So this thread lives. I also agree that more people should buy this game.
I am really enjoying my time with this game. The story is interesting, the character are great, and the skits are the best I've ever seen.
Of course the battles are fun as well, except when the enemies juggle you to death :(

"To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, for as long you shall be resurrected from death in the church"

Pay no attention to the review, this game kicks ass. I bought it about a week ago and have'nt been able to put it down.
