You can search for banned members and look at the post that got them banned for examples of what not to do. Lately the mods have been putting a link to the specfic post under their picture on their profile page.

Just as a point of reference you generally do get a single warning (ever, not per particular post or thread) before we start moving to bans.  Sometimes we warn in thread and through messages, sometimes we just warn through messages. 

Both go on their little permanent file and if they do it again they will be banned, but that's why you sometimes don't see things happen.

Is excessive fanboyism a reason to ban someone on this site?

Posting factual information will not get you banned.  Using facts as a means to instigate most certainly will.

Presentation and tone are critical to providing negative information without the intent of angering other members.

If you stick to being positive for your system of choice no.  If you degrade other systems then yes.

Changing a games name to a better sounding one.
Like Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts to Banjo Kazooie Threeie. ;)

Messing up the Game DB
Huge amount of Trolling
Cursing a Mod or Admin
Not donating 90 hours of your week to vgchartz.
