- These are dark and painful times for the family who lives at a North Maple street home in Lansdowne.

It's where a 13-year-old allegedly stabbed his 16-year-old brother to death on Sunday.

According to the criminal complaint, 13-year-old Jahmir Ricks ran outside shouting "I stabbed my brother" as police arrived at the scene. Their mother reportedly ran out screaming the same thing. Margaret Rebstock was passing by as the tragedy unfolded.

"He was standing out there, crying and screaming and yelling and police took him and put in car. The mother was in hysterics. I felt so bad for her," said Margaret Rebstock.

The 13-year-old allegedly stabbed his older brother twice with a steak knife. The blade pierced 16-year-old Antwan Ricks in the heart and lung. He did not survive. Police believe the stabbing occurred during a dispute over a video game that became physical.

"I don't believe the actual game itself was the cause of it. I don't believe they were acting out in any way or mimicking anything in a video game. I believe it was actual use of the game and whose turn it was," said Lansdowne Police Chief Daniel Kortan.

Jahmir Ricks stands charged as an adult with first-degree murder. The family was too shaken to talk publicly about the domestic conflict that has taken the life of one brother and forever changed the life of another.

Part me blames the parents. Another part of me blames the politicans for making garbage laws preventing parents to punish the kids. You can't even smack the kid on the palm with a ruler, let alone some ass spanking when they do something wrong.

Sssigh sad for the family.

I had many disputes with my brother :(.

Wow, that is sad. I have had many disputes with my brother too but nothing has ever possessed me to ever get physical, let alone grab a knife.

That is really sad. I see my brothers fight over games all the time. However, it usually ends with me yelling at them to quit acting like dumb asses.

Not in public, anyway. Best believe I'mma kick my kids' ass when they act up.

Very sad for the family, and terrible. That kid will have to live with that ... forever

Ha, I was just opening this on another site, oh well I read it here instead, yeah that's really sad, when I have kids im gonna beat the crap out of them.

the problem is education, the world needs more and better education, i dont talk about mathematics and biology, i talk about psychological education and values like the respect.

Part of me blames parents, and part of me blames the kids. I have a feeling the kid isn't too bright...we blame media, parents, politicians, whatever...I can't over the feeling that kids like this one are just stupid and do stupid stuff like fight people.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Better education with an emphasis on right and wrong certainly wouldn't hurt.
