You are looking at it from a profitability standpoint and actually are probably right. Sony can not afford more loses on the PS3 the price cut will have to wait until manufactures cost come down for the system
PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Your logic makes sense. However, I think the real reason a price drop is unlikely is that sony seems to be more focused on profit than marketshare now. Their heavy focus on developing and marketing first/scond party software provides evidence for this. I think they've pretty much conceded the NA market to M$ and Nintendo.
