Forums - Microsoft Discussion - IGN: Banjo-Kazooie - going to be some pretty disappointed purchasers

Cherry picking is the act of pointing at individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related cases or data that may contradict that position.

So how is the OP cherry picking? Where is this significant portion you speak of?

See my earlier post.

Cherry Picking may have been the wrong choice of words but it's clearly taking something out context.  If you can't see that then reread the first paragraph.

Not to mention it's pretty much Skeeuk's MO for posting news in the X360 forums.

I just pre-ordered it, and I don't feel bad about it, even after reading the review. I figure I'd buy Banjo on arcade anyway because I never played the original and alwaya wanted to. So that makes Nuts and Bolts $30? It'd have to be pretty bad for me to regret that.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Banjo-Kazooie has always been E+, so I'm not really sure what you are talking about.

i mean it in the way that it is REALLY E+, not just E+,

according to tv ratings the scale goes

Y            Y7            Y7FV             G             PG              14                MA

eC          E               E10            T               M                Ao

this game is E bordering on eC

B+K never tried for a cartoony appeal in the past, it was just pretty much all that was available to them without being Teen. This is like i jumped into a toy bin. this feels more kiddy than little nemo's dreamland for nes.

Then again you must understand that this is just my opinion. maybe i have just myself grown up and past games were also filled with daisies and non-sharp baby friendly edges that i just don't remember.

What difference does it make if a game is rated E+ instead of E?

i you are seriously asking and you have no idea what you are talking about, then maybe you ask in a nicer way because right now it looks like you are trying to discredit me, and to anyone who has played B+K, there is a LOT of innuendo, both violet, sexual, and the like. it was a T game that made it into an E+ game.

that was the thing about B+K and later the same team who made Conker. it was a cartoony looking game with adult-ish humor. so again instead of

"what difference does it make"

you can write

"what is the difference?"

because you obviously don't know.....

however, if the game includes this same kind of stuff, then I will stop talking right here... but it doesn't seem like that is the direction they are pursuing.

Without playing the game, how do you know that the same sort of innuendo in the first two is not present in this one?  I would guess that they tried to keep the writing similar.

It was not a "T game that made it into a E game".  The original two games were both E rated.  Innuedo is allowed in because it goes over the heads of the little kids.  Think about something like Shrek.  Kids like it because it is a slapstick cartoon/fairytale, and the adults appreciate all the little jokes.  All this while maintaining a kid friendly rating.

Also, it has been awhile since I've played these games, but I don't remember that much innuendo.  Of course there is violence as you said.  You are constantly fighting enemies, but that is in every game.  And the violence in this game is cartoon violence.

(Because I couldn't resist a Scrubs referance:  Inyourendo)

however, if the game includes this same kind of stuff (innuendo), then I will stop talking right here... but it doesn't seem like that is the direction they are pursuing. im sorry rep i'm not trying to be combatative but i do appreciate when people read what i write before responding to it. i did write this, and then you asked me how do i know that innuendo is not going to be included.

as for the writing, and the direction, rare has and always was a genius endeavor of the stamper brothers, and since they have left, they haven't done anything correctly.

as far as innuendo, they did have bold faced stuff too. just go to youtube and type in "banjo kazooie e?" there's plenty, some is conspiracy stuff, some is blod faced, like where kazooie asks a tree, whom describes himself as shriveled, how his nuts are.

you should check it out. but i have always remembered B+K to be a little more than a kids game. remember this was at a time when the censors weren't really in full swing. They slipped a lot of stuff in there that you just don't realize maybe.

I am excited about the game and think the new direction opens up a slew of new posibilities

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Xbox live:mywiferocks

I have seen a couple of trailers, it always looks good there are many things to do

but I never see real gameplay.

another starcraft hyped game that is doomed to fail.

@theprof00

I just don't understand why you have automatically assumed that this game does not include the same sort of jokes that have always been in the game. One would normally assume a sequel would be more similar than different. From what I have seen, the tone seems about the same.

I watched those videos, and that stuff was exactly what I was talking about. A little potty humor that you see all the time in cartoons, and some innuendo that goes over the heads of the kids. Definitely E rated.

it's just that i got that feeling from what i've seen. it's just a feeling.
like playing ninja turtles 2 when ninja turtles 1 was so much cooler
like turok 2
like mario 2
it just has a feel that does not give the previous installments credit.
it feels honestly, a little, amateurish to me. like there was a board meeting and everyone picked out things that made other games popular
it's everything from the environment of toys spilled over and vehicles made out of erector sets to oddly chosen angular look of banjo, the vehicles, sandbox environment
i'm not saying they look bad, and that the game is bad. but exactly like the op states i feel i will be disappointed.

i was going to say in my last post that "i have gone through the formality of posting "imo" or "i feel that" kinda stuff that ensures my views on this game is not 100% set in stone and that it is just a feeling i have.

like i said, i will expect to be automatically retracted if the game does have these great elements but yet again i just don't think it will cut it not only due to the stamper brothers leaving rare, but rare's own recent track record, the amazing success and likability of the original B+Ks, i just don't see how it can survive this new gen with the same kind of respect it deserves.

at least mario has a game every year, and can change with the times for better or worse because there will be another game with mario in it around the corner,... but it's really been years. this kinda feels like breaking out the old bk knight's light up shoes in todays world....
