Of course it looks worse when it's a small original pic being blown up to see the details.

If you check the actual clothing on the Gears guys and this guy this is a lot more detailed.

Still this kinda reminds me of half life 2 with higher geometry.

That's a good thing :)



A thing of beauty, strength, and grace lies behind that whiskered face.

If you look at the screen with more lighting you can see the details on the player's gun. In the screenshot it's dark and doesn't show unless you light it up a little.

I'm looking at them now. There are more designs on the Gears armor, but the detail in creases and realistic clothing look is much better in Killzone. The Gears armor has more going on on it in terms of different weird designs and stuff. This one is much more basic military uniform with packs and other kinds of gear on instead of armor pieces.

One looks like heavy armor, the other looks like a uniform alone. Also one is packing more things on it than the other, but stuff can still be added to the uniform later, that's a design choice really.

What is really blowing me away is the creasing and surface of the cloths and the way the uniform has extra area in the crotch area as it should in real pants. Those details are much less present in Gears though there are a few creases above the knees.

This a prime example of why you should never present CG as in game footage. That game is not impressive at least judging by this screen shot. I hope for the sake of the millions of dollars Sony has dumped into this game that those are placeholder textures.

 Why would they not be if the game isn't even in its Beta stage yet?

I don't understand how you can elaborate the game looking worse from a screen in a tiny dark area.

Wait till tonight to see the wide open areas then start complaining if you will.
