I'm sure there's plenty more problems with the list...

3) I don't think SimCity counts in "The Sims"

17) Lineage 2 had like 7 expansions already so I believe those numbers if they counted those.

Now as to why Wii Sports + Wii Play + Wii Fit isn't on there. If you go to the discussion page, you will see that what is defined as a franchise is not defined by the wikicommunity. Smash Bros doesn't appear on the list at all, despite selling well over the requisite 5 million simply because there hasn't been a Ninty press release saying that the Smash bros franchise has sold xxxx copies. (this also explains why pseudofranchises such as the Nickelodian franchise make it in there.

Wikipedia is so stupid sometimes...

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

I have no idea if the 48 million includes the Coleco version or not, but there were only 6 million shipped on the Coleco (ie one for every console) so I don't see why the 48 million couldn't include it.
