omgwtfbbq said: Wow, so many people here can't grasp the basic fundamentals of economics. Now I'm no guru (hell, I'm an engineer), but this kind of stuff is common sense! I'm sorry guys, but you can't blame a new and emerging market for killing off an old one. If the hardcore market dies it's not because the casual market appeared, it's because the hardcore consumer base simply isn't large enough to sustain the market. It's simple supply and demand. Just because another market is bigger and more profitable doesn't mean no one is going to cater to the smaller market, you will get exactly as many hardcore games as the hardcore userbase can sustain, and not any more or any less. Casual gaming won't effect the size of the hardcore consumer base and therefore won't effect the size of the hardcore market, all we'll see is a larger pool of money in gaming in general. If your hardcore gaming dies you can't blame it on anyone but the hardcore gamers and the companies that cater towards them. |
Please read the thread before running in like everyone for the last 5 pages doesn't know what they are talking about , keep your "basic fundamentals" of economics to yourself as there are many other factors which affect the gaming markets.
