I'm thinking about finally getting a handheld, but I'm worried about two things

1. Who is the DS for? at $140 I figure I might as well spend the extra $20 on a PSP bundle

2. what are the chances of nintendo coming out with a new hand-held soon?

EDIT: thanks for your support and advice everyone, I've decided on getting a DS next week for my birthday, any games you'd reccomend? I like platformers, action/adventure, and unique titles like Trauma Center and Brain Training

THe ds is $120 and its for everyone. It targets every demograph. The most dominant hardcore genres are who like puzzles, jrpgs, srpgs, 2d shooters,platformers and adventures. While those are the most common there are games in other genres as well. The ds is my favorite console or handheld and I hoe you enjoy it if you get one.

Edit: Most games go for 30-35 dollars and square enix games go for 40. There are many cheap games though that go down to $20 or even as low as $10. Also you could buy games used very cheap where some go down to $5.

If sales are anything to go by everyone in the world will have one soon.

And you guys have it good in the states. $200 in Australia and the dollar is almost on par with the greenback.

The DS was created for kids, However alot of adult enjoy the games on it, And there's nothing wrong with that.

The DS is for gamers, period. There are a lot of great games available. If you want to play games is by far the best portable option.
