Alright we have NJ5, and happy squirrel and squillium saying the XBOX 360 is a more powerful machine than the PS3.

Now for all of you technicle users, can you explain to me and does that are "less informed" the full comparison and which console truley is more powerful in graphics?

I think the concensus is that the 360's GPU is more powerful, while the PS3's CELL CPU is more powerful.

Usually, a GPU affects graphics more than a CPU.

The PS3's GPU is somewhere between a 7800GT and a 7900GTX in performance and features, depending on who you talk to. However, the 360's GPU has more in common with the much more powerful HD2900.

Technofiles will preach until they're blue in the face about how the PS3 and 360 are the most powerful system. They're welcome to it. I only care about the bottom line. When it comes to looking at both consoles running the same demo on my TV, neither one of them is clearly superior. Without the slightest bit of research to back me up, I will say the PS3 and 360 take two different routes to get to the same place.

The PS3 and 360 are so close in graphics, even asserting that there is a significant difference one way or another, is absolute obsessive-compulsive fanboyism.

For all intents and purposes, there is no noticable difference.

My understanding is that the PS3 is all-around worse due to the slow data seeking of its BluRay drive and miniscule memory.

I think they can both make HD sparklies though.  ^_^

First off, being that I have never once claimed that the XBox 360 is a more powerful machine this post is inaccurate trolling and I think you should be banned for it!

I am not too sure which one is better as IMO they both have shown to be farily equal.  However, it is my understanding that the Xbox 360 is cheaper and easier to developer as stated by industry experts and developers. (I am not going to go hunting for links but I have read it several times.)

All and all with the consoles being so close, I think what matters at least for 3rd parties is how much it costs.  I think the 360 for this reason has a edge when it comes to support and is another reason why we are seeing so many "timed" exclusives.
