Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sadness - New screen.

I'm not convinced, sorry.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on it, but this screenshot doesn't do anything for me. I'm not going to get hyped up about a game that I think won't deliver.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Looks like more concept art.

And how does anyone have ANY expectations for this game? It's a team with little to no experience tackling a project WAY too big for them to possibly pull off well.

It's definitely not concept art.  View it in full size

It is obviously digital.  Anyway, I don't see why people say these games from unknown devs will be automatically great, but it seems even worse to write it off as automatically bad.  You are actually encouraging people to ignore the little devs and support nothing but the big ones. :-/

3D rendered concept art.

I'm not saying to outright ignore games from unknowns. FAR from it. I'm saying don't get yourself super hyped for something which has some pretty slim chances of delivering what it promises.

These guys have bitten off WAY more than they could ever hope to chew. A 20 hour game with 10 different endings from a studio which hasn't made a game yet?

Christ, start with Wiiware and work your way up, Nibris...

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Maybe Capcom will publish Sadness since the girl in that screenshot is...

I still think this game is a hoax, or will be the new Duke Nukem Forever. Releasing single screenshots every six months does not prove the validity of a game to me. Maybe this game would have been taken more seriously if they didn't release some ridiculous concept video of imitation Wii motion against live actors filming a low budget horror flick. What developer does that? Hmmm...a phony one?

Oh, and FYI, no one should have to "eat crow" for not believing Sadness is a real game.

Going by what we know of the industry and the odds, the odds are that it's not a real game and we've yet to see anything which REALLY suggests otherwise.

Once they release a video of gameplay, then we can start believing it's real. Screenshots say absolutely nothing on how far along the game is.

But that doesn't say anything about whether or not the game will be any good. Again, they're tackling a project which I wouldn't recommend for a developer with anything less than 3-4 years of experience under their belt. If I were leading that team, I'd have them start with something MUCH smaller first and work their way up to making fully 3D games with 20 hours of gameplay and 10 different endings.

You're right. It won't be like Duke Nukem Forever, because there was a time DKF was actually real. Sadness as noname2200 so beautfiully put it, is the joke that never stops being funny. Any reason why you think this game is releasing in 2009 instead of a timeline more realistic like 2099?

My bet isn't that it isn't real. My bet is that it won't be very good.
