Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It would have been nice if Nintendo didn't sell Rare

Perfect Dark Zero would have been awesome on the Wii using the Wii Remote, a more polished game with extra development time, and would have appealed to a lot of hardcore gamers; Viva Pinata would have fit well with the Wii demographic; and a Banjo Kazooie game would have been a great addition to the Wii software library. Not to mention there could have been Joanna Dark and/or Banjo Kazooie in Brawl.

Ahh why did Nintendo have to sell Rare, or why did Microsoft have to buy them.....

Have you ever considered the idea that Nintendo sold Rare because they knew Rare was out of good ideas? Besides, all the real homies who worked on GoldenEye and Perfect Dark snuck out to make the TimeSplitters games.

I always ask myself WWJD?

well, I would have forced them to produce a new Diddy Kong Racing. One that is even more challenging.

Loved the hardcoreness of that cute title...

Nintendo made a huge profit with Rare, and they did invest for the better. Besides, with the way they are running their franchises to the ground, it was very wise to let them go. Perfect Dark and Conker deserved better fates than their x-box efforts. Banjo is their only hope to walk out the slump they're in, but it will still have to compare to SMG.

Viva pinata= success in my books for the the 360.
Never played anythink else by Rare on the 360 though.

What if.... we might of seen Goldeneye Wii and a good Donkey Kong Wii game.

BTW: Kameo, Banjo Kazooie 3 and Perfect Dark Zero would look more suited on the Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo let Rare go at the perfect time. What have they produced on the xbox or 360 that is anywhere near as good as their N64 efforts.

I think they should do a sequel to Blast Corps. That was one of the most under appreciated games on the N64.

Guys. Microsoft bought Rare. It was a matter of them having a lot more than Nintendo. Nintendo didn't want them to go. They were their best 3rd party developer at the time. Microsoft bought them as a way to undermine Nintendo. This is well known.

Rare WAS a pretty good developer but they lost their way and so they were sold off. Back in the SNES and N64 days these guys were untouchable. Last gen was a write off for them and it's looking like this gen is also mostly a write off for them. So I hardly see any reason why Nintendo should have kept them. They aren't the same as they were and as others have stated they lost most of all their good developers.
