Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii/DS are the best product lines or why every other line should be ignored

Maybe because you wrote it?

It's like saying GTA will kill the Wii.

The Wii and the DS are two great pieces of hardware which both offer their own unique control inputs and superior user interfaces that are more userfriendly than what other systems offer. Wii and DS provide better gaming experiences. The industry was ready for a very drastic change as is evidenced by the recordsetting software sales for both systems, which 3rd party games are a big part of. Due to this, I expect continued great hardware sales of both platforms. The industry is seeing unexperienced growth which can mostly attributed to Nintendo's foresight. They were the first to notice the gamer drift. How was this effect reversed? Answer: Nintendo's systems. Nintendo's success isn't solely based on the input devices of the Wii and the DS, it's the unmatched brilliance of their 1st party games which also plays a big role. By now everyone knows that it is hardware working together with the software that is creating the experience a lot of people have been seeking for. It's unlikely that Sony and Microsoft will ever match the magic that is the Nintendo experience. At least not for a long time.

The problem of many publishers is that they see a casual userbase and put out crap, but that doesn't work. Once 3rd parties understand this, their games will get better and be able to match the quality of Nintendo's 1st party games and rake in the money. But alas, some publishers just don't get it and continue to put out bad 3rd party games. The DS has already shown that good games sell accordingly and rewarded 3rd parties with huge returns of investments for their efforts. Now it's time that they step up their game and then they will see successes. Due to lower development costs compared to their competition, both Nintendo systems are much better options to make games for, 3rd parties should start to bring their major franchises over. The Wii/DS are more profitable to make games for. The Wii and the DS should get tons of games in the next years and with a large number of software comes lots of additional appeal to gamers previously not interested. And with such a huge amount of games, there naturally will be a lot of good and great ones among them.

I am very well aware that not everyone will be happy about this post because of one or another reason, but let me tell you that you shouldn't take everything in life/forums too serious. It could backfire badly. And finally, let me say that I had fun writing this and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Well, if this is a joke thread, consider me snagged. I think Rol's pretty on point. Mind you, there'll still be plenty of good stuff coming out for all the systems, including the PC, and I don't think I'm alone when I say I intend to 'collect them all' as soon as I can afford to. But I can't really disagree with anything Rol just said.

I am totally puzzled myself. How was it detected so early on that it is a joke thread? Probably it was the high level of fanboyism in the OP, something I don't show in my other posts. Because it sounds so over the top, it must be a joke thread.

But since I tend to hide clues in my joke threads, can anyone tell me what they are in this one?

Sorry Rol, but it looks like this is a case where your reputation precedes you. It was still a good read though. Although I do have one problem with it. It's too long. No one likes to read long posts.

*cough cough* Excuse me, I just had a bit of hypocrisy stuck in my throat there...

I feel sorry for you. You are missing out on so much great gaming by just sticking with Nintendo. Its too bad really.

I own a PS3. No great gaming is available on that system.

Also, the current DS library is almost better than the PS2 one. Trolling or ignorance. You be the judge.

I own a Wii, a DS and a 360.  Once the price comes down for the PS3 I'll get that too.  Sticking to one platform is ignorance.  Enjoy your filtered life.

I own both Nintendo consoles and enjoy them immensely, so I don't know if that last comment was aimed at me.

Besides that I don't think it's possible to argue any system has a better line-up than the PS2 this generation, even if you don't agree with metacritic.

You know, I thought I was still arguing with darklich13, lol. Sorry about that man. Didn't check to see your a different poster.

That said, I do disagree with you about your assertion that the PS2 and DS libraries aren't comparable, to me, honestly, the PS2 has a better library, but the DS is getting there, and I feel it certainly is, or will soon be comparable, according to my personal opinions and tastes in gaming.

My response, however, was to darklich13, who I feel possibly insinuated that he's not missing without Nintendo, when the DS has some of the most innovative games this generation by far.

In my oh so humble opinion, you could take all the games so far this gen(excluding handhelds), put them in a shopping cart, and they wouldn't even have a chance at touching the SNES library.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Rol, I agree with you completely. I see both the DS & Wii as the only real way forward - and I'm sure the "PSP2" will borrow as many features from the DS as possible, and the next PS & XBOX consoles will do the same for the Wii.

Throwing "more expensive" components into a device is a simple enough thing to do - from a design standpoint anyway. But there needs to be a business/cost balance there.

But taking a completely new direction, with significant risk & lots of design work - that takes **balls**.

...

Choice is good for the consumer regardless, so I'm very happy there are now three competing consoles. I still see the 360/PS3/PSP 'struggling' in the future.
