Why is that good to see in any way? I just don't get your negativity

Edit: Just realised the poster is RolStoppable so what can you expect

It's good because the holiday season has the biggest margin of error for VGC estimates. No 50m celebration this week that could come back after adjustments.

It also means that 2020 begins with a big milestone for Switch.

Your edit is just mean.

Gomenasai senpai!!!

PS4 peak year was 2017 with 20.2 million sold, which comes directly from Sony PR.

That is financial year my friend. That goes from April 1st to march 31th. We'll know that one and I'm hoping it'll be bigger since 2020 first 3 months should be bigger than 2019 first three months.

No it's not, its sold through during calendar year

https://wccftech.com/sony-ps4-sales-holiday/

Sony has announced sell through every year.

2013-4.2m

2014-14.3m (18.5m)

2015-17.4m (35.9m)

2016-17.5m (53.4m)

2017-20.2m (73.6m)

2018-18.0m (91.6m)

I'm not sure what PS4's peak calendar year is tbh. And we'll need to wait til April to find out Switch's Financial Year total, though I suspect it will also be over 20 million as the first three months of this year should (hopefully) be better than the first three months of 2019.

PS4 peak year was 2017 with 20.2 million sold, which comes directly from Sony PR.

So once sales from the 29th-31st are included, Switch's 2019 has topped PS4's best year.

Unfortunately, no. PS4 was at 53.4M on January 1st, 2017 and 73.6M on December 31st, 2017, so it sold 20.2M in 364 days.

Similarly (according to VGChartz,) Switch was at 29.6M on December 29th, 2018 and 49.8M on December 28th, 2019, which would also be 20.2M in 364 days.

So a dead heat then.

Still, there's a chance 2019 may not be Switch's peak year, maybe in 2020 it'll do even better.

Isn't that 365 days?  What day is missing?

If you add 364 days to January 1st, you get December 31st. The 20.2M figure doesn't include sales on January 1st, because that's the date of the previous sell-through announcement.

Usually Nintendo consoles are adjusted up from vgchartz estimates during the holidays so there could also be that.

But technically, switch sells better in December so 1 day of switch sales in December will be bigger than 1 day of PS4 sales in December, so switch will edge out ever so slightly. And who knows, when Ninty releases sales data, switch might edge out or end up being lower.

There's a chance? You make it seem as it's unlikely.

I'm not entirely decided yet as we know so little about Nintendo's plans for 2020. It should be their peak year, but it is possible they drop the ball.
