I'd bet Microsoft has already tried to acquire them and they've refused, not based on anything concrete, just a hunch, they tick almost all the boxes for a studio acquisition.
It would be weird if Microsoft waited until after Flight Simulator, when they'll likely become more expensive to acquire, I think if Asobo doesn't happen this year then it ain't happening at all.
I do hope it happens, Asobo is the perfect candidate for an acquisition.
I bet Microsoft has asked many more companies if they would like to be acquired by them that we aren't aware of. Microsoft is likely only willing to buy companies that are most willing to join Xbox Game Studios and aren't too expensive. Out of all their acquisitions none of them seem too expensive. Other than Mojang for $2.5 billion.
