Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Super Metroid remake and Metroid Prime trilogy are coming to the Switch

They shouldn't remake Super Metroid, it's one of the best games of all time and the visuals, audio, controls and gameplay still holds up well.
They should remaster it however, that way they can't screw up a good formula.. I still go back and do a complete play through every few years.

In saying that, one way to get me to buy a Switch is with a good Metroid game, I wouldn't bother waiting for a Switch TV then.

I dont understand why Nintendo dont simply port Samus Returns to Switch. The game was clearly held back(commercially) by the 3DS.

I can easily see it selling an extra 500 K(minimum) on the Switch.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Would rather just have a new 2D Metroid game. Don't see a reason to remake Super Metroid.

I'd be happy with Super Metroid even without a remake.

Metroid Prime trilogy I'll be skipping. I know as a Nintendo fan it's a game I am supposed to like, but I find it clunky and boring for the most part. I can't help but to think "I liked this game SO much better the first two times I played it as Turok Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2 Seeds of Evil."

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

The prospect of a Super Metroid remake fills me with dread. I feel like they couldn't possibly improve on it.

While the thought of the first Metroid Prime in HD is exhilarating, it would be such a MASSIVE step back for me after the superb accuracy and utter liberation of playing with the Wii remote. And aiming with joy-con motion is a pathetic substitute; to me it doesn't begin to compare. However, if Nintendo were to release a USB sensor bar for the Switch to allow the use of Wii Remotes then I'm all in for a third time.

As a Nintendo fan you are supposed to not tell us the same old tired story in every Metroid Prime thread. You just put yourself on the same level as a Pokéhater.

Fair point, I agree entirely. But it’s going to happen regardless each time I’m interested enough in addressing a Metroid thread that brings up the old Metroid prime games.

Grain of salt like the Starfox Racing crap. I don't think Super Metroid needs a remake. I'm ok with it but don't think it's needed.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

This doesn't even have to be a "rumor" or a "leak". It might as well be educated guessing.

Nintendo has had very little Metroid presence on Switch so far, but the eShop HAS been hosting a lot of indie games inspired by Super Metroid.

If they want to sell something as absurdly titled as "Metroid Prime 4" to a host of Switch owners who have (presumably) no idea what that means, they better bring out the best Metroid stuff they have in advance of that release. And play up how big an influence on the indie movement Super Metroid has always been. Cave Story is not NOT influenced by Super Metroid.

I swear this "Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch" news is coming back every 3 months and nothing has happened whatsoever.

This is worse than that rumored "Star Fox Grand Prix" that Retro was supposedly working on.
Just let it die. Like the franchise itself :D

Or at least hope silently
