Entering my top 10!

Hint 1: World with altered physics.
Hint 2: Same franchise as #19 and #20.
Hint 3: This is also a 'sequel', but it's a lot more similar to the previous games than game #19 is to #20.
Hint 4: Games #20 and #19 are Pokémon Black & White and Pokémon Black & White 2.
Hint 5: Came out in 2009 (in 2008 in Japan).

Hint 2: The game is set underground.

Hint 1: 11th game in the franchise, and the first one that isn't numbered.
Hint 2: Instead, it's named after the system it's on.

Final Fantasy VIII (PlayStation)

Change From Last Year: -4

Although it is arguably the most divisive entry in the long-running franchise, Final Fantasy VIII is still one of my favourite games of all time. It has its flaws without question, but the elements that are great more than make up for whatever minor problems the game has in my eyes. In terms of gameplay, I really like the flexibility of the Junction system and the way it works magic spells into a part of the characters stat development. I also really like how the characters actually go through notable changes over the course of the game, and you get to see this change as you play.

Then there's the music, which is probably the most universally loved aspect of the game, with even people who otherwise hate the game usually admitting that Uematsu's score is still excellent regardless of how they feel about the rest of the game.

12.  The first hint sounds like Super Mario Party, but the second hint doesn't.  Is Super Mario Party called something different in parts of Europe?

I wanted to do write-ups for all of my games, but doesn't look like I will have time this year.  Oh well....

Here are clues starting into my top 10:

10.  I can't help but think that Steamworld Dig was inspired by this early 80's arcade classic.

9.  This series started on the Famicom, but it didn't leave Japan until this GBA entry.  Not Fire Emblem.

8.  Most people in the mid-90's went to the arcade to play fighting games, but I mostly went to play this 4-player beat'em up from Capcom.  First in the series.
