Forums - General Discussion - Humanity could benefit from a soft reset

That sounds reminiscent of the plot for the video game known as

Spoiler!
Horizon: Zero Dawn.

I mean, kinda. You'd get it if you played it. Don't you judge me!

Or the post apocalyptic portion of Cloud Atlas, which I can't help but wonder if some inspiration led to HZD.

If more people watched and understood movies like this, the world would be a much better place, not like it's that terrible overall in comparison, but everything could always be better. Always.

This also sounds kinda like the Georgia Guidestones.

  1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
  2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.
  3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
  4. Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.
  5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
  6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
  7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
  8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
  9. Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.
  10. Be not a cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.

Humanity evolved as hunter gatherers for millions of years, we are suited to that life mentally and physically, civilization has only been around for thousands of years

Ultimately as you would do with any animal you would put us in an ideal environment which we evolved, then we would be at our best in balance with the World, we would be happier even if life would be physically far more demanding and fatal, it's who we are deep down

Any time someone talks about eliminating "bad ideas", they seldom, if ever, think their ideas are bad.  The basic idea here is to purge the world of what you like and keep the rest.  Discarding everything learned from the past is also a recipe to repeat it.

I am reminded of the movie GAS-S-S-S which pulled a Logan's Run of purge everyone over a certain age:

I'm so out of touch with the movie scene these last few years. That looks pretty good though. I'll keep an eye out for it.

OK, but do we still get FF7Remake?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Well it's a 2012 flick so... lol. It's 6 stories in 1 that are jumbled together so you basically have to watch it all to see the entirety of the post apocalypse. Hard to find many pics or vid clips of that portion either.

It's definitely worth the watch, but it's certainly not your typical movie and not everyone's cup of tea. It's really in depth and you have to think through it for it to mean anything. People who just want action and explosions won't care for it. When I saw it back in 2012 I only grasped a small portion of it, partially because it's presented in a somewhat confusing manner, but makes it's artsy and interesting, and partially because I didn't know much about philosophy and wasn't all that open minded back then.

Mind you the visuals are amazing, especially the pre-apocalyptic future, just very little action. The Wachowski's backed off the action somewhat in V for Vendetta, then really backed off on Cloud Atlas.

I think Hitler already tought of this... And yes, it was very successful for germany. Because they became a 1st world country after a big war, twice already...

It wouldn't work. They would likely just grow into tribes that eventually fight each other. One tribe would do something bad to another and you essentially end up with Chicago.

Also, God already tried it when he flooded the planet.
