Rumor: Sony lining up a bid to acquire Remedy.

Forums - Sony Discussion - Rumor: Sony lining up a bid to acquire Remedy.

Great fit and with the rumors that Quantic Dream may be going more Multiplat they slide right into that spot.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

It is a small company, only 20M€ turnover 2018, so they wouldvreally benefit from financial backing of Sony to make AAA titles that cost 100+ M€ to make.

And yet they are growing, having moved to newer, bigger, offices in 2018. I think it is clear Sony has interest, but I doubt as far as going to try and buy them out. That doesn't go with how Sony usually gets their talent, which involves working with them on a few projects first. Things can change of course.

That said, their financials from 2018 showed that they were working on a game that was being shopped around to interested partners. I think it is obviously more likely that Remedy will be making a Sony published PS5 title. And then from there they can see where to go next. They have enough staff to be working on Control, aiding on Crossfire HD and Crossfire 2, and getting another game started. Doesn't strike me as someone Sony is just going to scoop up out of nowhere. And with the Alan Wake IP going back to them, clearly MS won't be either.

Still, interesting times.

QD going multiplatform is not a rumour. It is definitely happening. They aren't being backed by Sony, their Sony published games are coming to PC, and a Chinese company has a stake in their business. Multiplatform is definitely the next step for them.

I prefer Quantic Dream than Remedy.

If this is true, it is likely they learnt from their mistake of not buying Quantic dream. Similar to the case of M$ buying Obsidian (Bioware replacement).

Remedy with Sony backing, could make great things.   If this is true I will give it a chance.

what mistake? they were on a 3 game deal, QD seemed open to an acquisition, and Sony didn't pull the trigger.

and after the accusations of the terrible work culture at QD, why would they?
