It was announced as a direct sequence to Breath of the Wild. Why wouldn't it be the same Hyrule?

Majora's Mask was a direct sequel to Ocarina of time and it was not the same world.  Wind Waker was a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time as well that took place in the adult timine, and it took place on the great sea.  Spirit Tracks was a direct sequel to Phantom Hourglass, which was a direct sequel to Wind Waker, and those all took place in different areas as well.

This would actually be the second direct sequel in Legend of Zelda history (a link between worlds being the first) to do this, so that is a pretty clear indication as to why people would wonder if it would take place in Hyrule or a neighboring region/reality.

Wouldn't it be the third, actually? I mean, the Link in The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link are one and the same, after all. It's also the same world, just on a much larger map (You can find the area of the first game south of death mountain).

You see Hyrule Castle in the trailer it was a given its the same Hyrule the will likely be changes made anyway.

Here is something to consider.

I feel that Link will lose his sheikah slate, and all those abilities.

Imagine the exact same Breath of the Wild world, no changes, except without those abilities. Replace them with things like the hookshot and others. Just that alone will make the world feel different.

Now I'm not saying that is all they will do, but removing the slate abilities would change the game drastically.

Might not be everyone's cuppa tea, but this is exactly what I want out of Breath of the Wild: more.

If it is indeed the same map that'd be a colossal disappointment and I might not even buy it.

Might as well have just been DLC if it's not even going to give us a new map to explore. Going from the sublime sense of constant discovery is BOTW to just retreating the same world I've already covered every inch of would be one of the biggest steps down in quality in gaming history.

Yeah, because it will obviously be the exact same map with no changes or new content or additional areas.

Considering how lazy the DLC for BOTW was wouldn't be terribly hopeful they'd do much in terms of new areas. This really does sound like the sort of thing other companies would do as a DLC pack.

Considering what the trend lately is, they'd rather had cut up the BOTW DLC, added tons of color variations to items and then sold every piece for about (at least) 5$ real money.

Aren't you overreacting a bit from a quick line without context?

What's the precedent for Nintendo half-assing a main entry in the Zelda series?

There will plenty of new stuff I’m sure. Being the same Hyrule probably just means that Death Mountain is in the same place. Not that we’re going to find the Aonuma Shrine in exactly the same place.

I'm not saying it will definitely suck, just that this quote worries me as I want a new world to explore.
