Persona 5 The Royal - Trailer (10/31/2019 in Japan)

Forums - Sony Discussion - Persona 5 The Royal - Trailer (10/31/2019 in Japan)

@Ultrashroomz You can add this beautiful cover art to your OP if you want:

First of all, yas!

This is what I was hoping for.
And Kichijōji!!??

That was my hometown for almost a year.
Can't wait to see what it's like in P5R. And I hope there's new music tracks as well. I think that's standard with these new versions.

Gonna add some more impressions once I finish making some gifs, but I'm very excited about this.

I remember them saying there'd be information on April 25th... so, this isn't it, right? Or is it?

Because, well, of course, it's not really what I want. But they know that.

You mean Atlus?
I was waiting for April 24 because that was the date mentioned at the end of the previous P5 Royal trailer.

Did you hear the 25th from somewhere else?

Questions:

I just started Persona 5 (only defeated the first castle). Just to clarify, are these new features/characters now implemented into original game, if so is it worth continuing or should I wait to get this and start all over to utilize the new features/characters?

...Or are all of these new things occur after the main story game anyways so it wouldn't matter and I can just complete the game now then continue with the new stuff afterwards when I pick this up?

If this is like the previous enhanced versions, and it looks like it is, then it takes place during the same time period as the original game. But has extra content. Extra scenes, confidants, personas, etc.

If you skip playing the original, you should get the original experience + more in this one.
However keep in mind that due to the extra content, some experiences may differ. For example, in the original game a person may die and stay dead by the end of it, but in the enhanced version, they may live at the end. (This happened before in Persona 3 with a certain character.)

Eh, I guess I had it wrong, then. Oh well.

And yeah I do mean Atlus. They know people want a Switch port... it's not rocket science.

YEAH!!!

What Persona 5 Switch you are talking about? BestBuy leaks aren't realiable and Jason from Kotaku is pretty sure that Persona 5 S isn't a Switch port.

Persona 5 S will be the switch version but after watching The Royal trailer it seems like Royal will be ps4 exclusive and Persona 5 S will most likely just be the normal version. If thats the case Persona 5 Switch should be $20 at launch same price as P5 on the ps4

If they make a Switch version, I don't see why they'd release the inferior version though?
Unless there's some exclusivity deal with Sony that we're not aware of. But that would still be a risky move that would open them up to a lot of easy criticism. Not sure they'd want those kind of negative publicity.

Yeah, I saw someone else in here mention "They have another day to announce the Switch port, don't they?" so I thought there may have been a 25th announcement somewhere that I didn't know of.

Up until today I've been fairly certain that there would be a Switch version of Persona 5, but now I'm not sure.

My initial reasoning had nothing to do with Joker being in Smash. I just thought they'd do it because they have a history of putting new versions of Persona on the most popular handhelds (that can handle the game). Joker being in Smash increased the probability, but I did not rule out Joker being added just because it's Joker and Persona.

I think the Persona 5 aesthetics and Joker's character have an appeal that attracts even people who haven't played the game. At least I know I loved the stylish designs from the moment I saw them. And he's been a guest character in many Japanese mobile games.
But Nintendo of course expects a lot of Switch owners to have a PS4. And there is Persona Q2. And you're going to run out of classic iconic characters like Cloud at some point, especially if you want to add a new series with new stages and music.

If it was me, I would stop. The upgraded versions are always a pretty big upgrade, and makes the experience much better.

Really excited for this! Probably be there day 1.

Please, just get on with #Persona 6 and have it set in college. C'mon. Times a ticking, it'll be 3 years this summer and please don't make us wait (not that I was, as P5 was my first) another 8 years or something silly like that and for the love of God, don't make the game 120 hours again, trim out the edges, shave the fat and use work on them loading times, cut it to something reasonable like 70 or 80 tops.
Who here at #Atlus is listening to me? C'mon. Get on it and stop milking Persona 5, FF15 has proven this continued juicing of a single player game is nit a good idea and a sequel needs to be first prioity.

Everything in the above reply is my opinion, from my own perspective and not representative of reality outside of my own head!

-Android user, please be gentle with critique on my spelling.

Even with my above comment, I am curious can we not get these features on the side? I reinstalled the game thinking that this would be a reason to restart it and see it through to the end but I can't find anything that says this will be available for base game users...

Will it also be available as upgrade for those that own Persona 5? Just finished the first castle and planning to continue in May for the next one.

29/08/14:

PS4 will sell 25 million units before 31st of March!

Edit: I didn't state what year! HAHA, so I'm still right in some sense
