Some hate is righteous, like my hate for Metro Exodus right now.

Why do you hate Metro?

Was playing it, then i died as the game decided to checkpoint so now it reloads into a death every time. Have to restart i guess, but i'm just gonna do it on the easiest difficulty

Nothing to see here, move along

Wow, that is pretty bad design for 2019, I haven't had a game do that to me since Oblivion way back in 2006.

omg...that is pretty bad.  [sorry, I did laugh, but you just didn't see it.]  may i suggest alternating saves?

[edit: the above response in no way represents or replaces Deep Silver's official customer service]  just 4 Gamers by Gamers

I don't think that has ever happened to me with video games.

So far the only hate that I let consume me was my hate for The Last jedi.  It felt worth it though.

True that. I was once a Jedi, but Episode 8 turned me into a Sith.

this reminds me of what happened to me playing Baten Kaitos Origins. the beginning of disc 2 was a boss fight and I was underleveled. needless to say I never beat the game because I didn't want to start over

i sometimes watch that kind of youtube content if it comes up in my feed. most recent one was about anthem it was a oooh im so dissapointed video about the game. after that i went to the local store and bought it not gonna listen to some random idiot on youtube on what game i should buy. just buy it if it sucks return it and if you like it keep it.

No need to restart, just start the chapter over and use quick save every now and again. It's a manual save function that may not be well explained. Don't play the game on the easiest difficulty, I did while starting a second play through for the good alt ending and it was a joke, I quickly upped it to normal which was a good balance, even easy is a much more balanced experience than 'reader' which fills out your entire inventory with one or two dead bodies.

These games were originally designed to fuck you over anyway much like Resident evil and with quick save this is the easiest Mretro game to date... well, maybe not ranger hard-core but the openness still gives so much more opportunity and you see less death screens than the prior two. I'm currently stuck in a boss near the end of Metro 2033 with 2 bullets, that's a chapter restart for sure if I ever get back to it after last light which I'm currently playing and it's no joke if you don't use stealth.

I cannot imagine why you, or anyone, would spend their time watching videos of people ranting, whining, or otherwise shit talking and video games. It serves no useful purpose. Find something better to do with your time (ie, anything at all other than watching stupid videos).

That's why i intend to stop watching, It's just too easy to let the YouTube recommended play for background noise and it started pumping these videos at me while I do shit around the house or play games, I start at podcasts or news and it ends up at these videos. I cqn't say they aren't enjoyable though as watching Fallout 76 burn was satisfactory on so many levels as I had been posting on the internet since 2015 that this would happen for Bethesda after what they done did to Fallout 4 and their quality control.

As someone mentioned above it's not hate but an emotion. I like watching a disaster film, I like watching people fail on YouTube and I like this but as said in the OP I intend to stop engaging it this as it serves no purpose. The rest is a basic human need to see the potential worst outcomes of something so you don't do it yourself or avoid it, your brain rewards this and I'm pretty sure these videos play off of the same reward mechanism.

god, is everything called "hate" now? there is such a colorful array of negative or destructive emotions and they all get crushed into the same 4 letter word? back in the day this emotion you are feeling was called malicious glee or Schadenfreude

Shadenfraud is a good descriptor of it, yes but it does turn to hate. Just look in those comment section, it's people grouping together to cheer on the dumpster fires like a hate mob and if you try to interject some clarity or an opinion opposing the hate you get a YouTube comment sized brick thrown in your face.

PC master race channels thrive off of this shit and It's just hard not to join in with them as they seem to make sense at the time but retrospectively the realization hits that it's most likely causing very negative traits to emerge in ones mind. I get your point but if hate ever applied to anything in gaming it is these videos, the viewership and the mindset that the cultivate.
