Im going to get murdered for this buuuut 2/10 for me. Zelda looks amazing ( but its a remake albeit it a damn impressive one) and Hellblade my GOAT buuut obviously i already own that game on ps4. Everything else didnt interest me one bit. No Snes games, no netflix, no mention of overhauling horrendous OS, nothing from Retro. No pokemon or animal crossing. No Botw or SMO dlc. No Luigis mansion. Just a bunch of anime that doesnt interest me one bit. Thank god for that one zelda remake. Astral chains looked ok i guess will beed to see more on that. Pretty terrible overall for me. Oh and that absolute terrible port od dead by daylight seriously?

They dont wanna drop everything in this direct. It will overshadow the other games. Like most Nintendo directs, they do not show everything. They like to space out the big games.

So expect Pokemon, Luigi Mansion and Animal Crossing at e3 or if there is a direct before e3.

I know i know,  i was just really hoping for Snes games and some more online stuff. I actually forgot about ACIII remastered too. Thats quite a big 3rd party game actually. Be interesting to see how this and hellblade compare to ps4 version.

Astral Chain - being developed by the Neir Automata Team. How are you guys not excited for this?
Mario Maker 2
Link's Awakening Remake (Hopefully $40)
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Ultimate Alliance 3
Daemon X Machina Demo
Yoshi's Crafted World Demo
Fire Emblem release date
Dragon Quest XI definitive edition

All this great stuff in a year where we are supposed to also get Poke'mon, Animal Crossing, and Luigi's Mansion.

If it all plays out well, this will mean 11 exclusives for Switch this year. That's bonkers!

So long as E3 gives us 2019 release dates for the games missing from this direct Nintendo's 2019 sales will be insane.

I voted 8. For me personally, Grid looked excellent and am really excited for both Rune factories. Not really a fan but both Dragon quest games looked amazing, as did assassins creed. There were a few boring parts for me but even some of the games that i have little interest in, (Zelda, mm2) still looked like worthy and great games for those that are into those franchises. All in all a solid direct.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Ok, I just gotta say. Nothing against Animal Crossing as a franchise, I enjoyed New Leaf and am very much looking forward to the Switch games.
But the fan base, specifically the ones who are bitching on Twitter about it not being in the Direct, seriously needs to chill the fuck out. The game is coming, and you're going to get all the info you want soon. Just have some damn patience, Jesus Christ!

They're pretty damn arnery lol

x-post from another thread:

- Happy to see a true Mario Maker sequel and not just a remaster. That game was basically the one bit of relevency the Wii U was clinging to, now that's gone.
- Bloodstained looks sweet, as a (at least casual) fan of Castlevania
- Another new RPG from Square? Damn, Switch is really turning into an RPG beast.
- Did I just see Yoshi wearing a Labo keyboard? XD. Game is shaping up though, looks slick.
- AC3 is a plesant surprise. Always good to see more AAA third party support, especially on the Western end of things. Though I fear "all DLC included" is code for "full price" for a game several years old.
- Astral Chain looks sweet, though Platinum game's big Wii U release, Wonderful 101, didn't really do it for me. Was overly convoluted mechanics/control wise. This looks more action oriented and straight forward though, which I like.
- Certainly didn't expect a Link's Awakening remake. But more oldschool style Zelda is always a good thing.

7/10 Direct. Surprising amount of new announcements, more third party support, and relatively diverse selection of games shown. Lacking somewhat on the Western front, and a little top heavy on the more niche, quirky and cutesy Japanese/anime tinged stuff for my tastes. Still a bit port heavy too. Overall though, good stuff considering this direct was sort of announced and broadcast on pretty short notice.

9.5/10

Pros:

  • Super Mario Maker 2 looked incredible
  • Astral Chain was unexpected and looked great
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Remake
  • Tetris 99 shadowdrop, this is actually one i'm most excited about from this direct
  • Demos for Yoshi and Daemon X Machina
  • Good third party gets with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Dead by Daylight (this one looked rough as hell but it's still a good game)
  • Captain Toad Treasure Tracker DLC
  • Boxboy eshop game, I wanna see Nintendo doing more eshop published smaller stuff like this
  • Final Fantasy 9 shadowdrop
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
Neutral (basically what i'm not interested in so can't say much about):
  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses, having never played any of the games I can't say this interests me at all, but it looks alright
  • Rune Factory 4/5, never played but glad people are excited for them
  • Not really interested in Dragon Quest 11 or Builders 2, but seem like good games
  • Oninaki
  • Deltarune
  • GRID Autosport
Cons:
  • Not many third party announcements at all, mostly just late ports
  • Still no concrete release dates for games like Daemon X Machina, a lot of close 2019 months are still up to question on if there's a release or not.
I'd say on the first party/exclusive front they definitely delivered, that's 3 brand new huge exclusives announced in one direct, a couple of eshop games like Boxboy and Tetris 99, 2 new demos for upcoming games, DLC, etc. Just would have hoped more big things from the third party side, but I can see there are other things there that will excite other people that I just personally have no interest in.
So it was a great direct imo, one of the best in a while.

Loved:
Mario Maker 2
Links Awakening remake
Yoshi
Captain Toad DLC
Hellblade
Undertale Sequel Demo

Intrigued:
Astral Chains
Fire Emblem Three Houses (This should have been a 'loved', but I'm not a fan of the premise of this one.....seems like you spend the whole game in FE Hogwarts without any tangible stakes to me so far.)
DQ XIS
Bloodstained
Starlinked Star Fox expansion
Deus Ex Machina Demo
FF9
Unravel 2
Oniaki

Meh:
Assassins Creed III remake - It's cool I guess

Don't care:
All of the rest, I think.

10/10, just for Mario Maker and Link's Awakening. I don't buy more than three games a year anyways.

9/10 Good mix of new announcements and updates with plenty of both, with some of them being pretty major and impressive. 2019 is officially a great year for Switch.

10/10

- Final Fantasy IX released now!
- Final Fantasy VII release date soon
- Zelda Link's Awakening remake!!!
