Good to see that they are expanding.
I tried the trial sometime last year and it's not a bad service. Personally I prefer gamepass since

  1. it's cheaper,
  2. all the games can be downloaded, and
  3. quiet a few new games come to gamepass day 1.

Yh MS is doing good work with game pass. Competition is great.

  1. Yes GP is $30 cheaper than PSnow for one year. But this is really because they came in after, they have to do something t build a user base. But this is also a soft benefit as its something sony can change if they ever feel the need to. Or who knows GP can get more expensive.
  2. Games can now be downloaded on PSnow, but the catch is that PS4 lacks Full BC and thats anther benefit of Gamepass. Also anther thing that come PS5 will probably change.
  3. Again new service..... expect nothing less than a 2yr wait time for good or popular games when the service is in full swing.

Why would we get a 2 year minimum wait time on games once GP hits “full swing”? Keeping with the Netflix comparison, it not only gets its own exclusive content, even big name movies and TV shows come quickly. The last Avengers is already on there. Pretty sure I saw Solo on their too.

MS’s own games will continue to come day one and I’m sure they’ll continue to get smaller titles to launch on the service. I don’t think anyone expects something along the lines of a Calls of Doody to ever launch day one on there but MS will always get good games to launch on there. Sony will too.

I'm excited to see how Sony and MS improve their sub next gen.

Great news!

I already signed up for the beta.
Thankfully, when i was deciding between a Xbox One and PS4 controller to use with my Switch, i bought the DS4. Good choice! :)

I have a 150 Mbps connection. Hope it's more than enough to play the games.

Anyone knows if there's a way if you can stream from PC to TV? I'd rather play on TV.

PS Now kinda supports TV natively, imo?

OP - git gud. Hoveever, I still think all of this will be just a fad that faded, but it will be nice when it lasts.

Netflix afaik is still losing money with 130m subscribers and needs 190m .. Sony/MS/whoever tries a similar model probably needs to run profitable with a faaar smaller subscriber count, as gaming is certainly more niche than watching shows/movies.

Netflix is selling junk bonds to fund itself.

I did not know that.
I'll try to see how that works out.

Thanks.

It won't last...... it simply isn't a viable business model. Basically for it to be viable you will need hundreds of millions of subscribers.

Particularly so because unlike movies which have multiple revenue streams or phases, games have just one.

Its a nice extra to have, and a great way to et people into the door f your ecosystem but it will not be a replacement for traditional game playing.

My thinking exactly.
