That's ridiculous

I still stand by my prediction.

I am still very confident in my 25m prediction for Switch.  The only thing that can kill my "10-15m ahead" prediction is if Sony issues a major permanent price cut.  Still no word if they are going to do this or not.

How about now? You'll need 15.8m sold over the holiday quarter to reach 25m. Which I think would be an all time record.

15.8m would be outperforming the Wii's peak holiday quarter by over 30%.

PS4 will sell 15m, Switch will sell under 20m difference will be less than 5m.

If I would give a reasonable range it'd be this:

PS4 - 14.8m-16m
Switch - 18.5m-21m

It's time to revisit this post.
VG Chartz is currently showing platform totals until September 28th 2019, which is 2 days shy of the end of the 3rd quarter of the calendar year. The results this far are interesting. The Switch has current 2019 sales of 9.3 million units to the 8.7 million of the PS4. In a head to head battle the Switch owns 51.66% of the 2019 sales putting the PS4 at 48.33%. The PS4 has actually made ground since the end of the 2nd quarter in this regard (see above post) and it blows my mind that a console that has sold over 100 million units and is 6 years into it's lifespan can sell so well. It really is a beast.
Most people (myself included) agree that the 4th quarter will be where the Switch really shines but if you look at the poll in the OP most people had the Switch winning this battle by millions... Can the 4th quarter sales of the Switch really be that strong? I think that if Nintendo have any chance of the Switch one day reaching numbers like the Wii this 4th quarter will have to be epic. Sony has a shiny new console looming and Nintendo needs to cash in now. The Switch Lite should help this happen but time will tell. The elephant in the room is also how mediocre the Switch sells in Europe. 10 million sales in the whole of Europe is below par and the Switch needs to vastly improve in this region if the console has any hope of outselling the PS3 LTD.
Thoughts?

Europe, same time frame

Ps3: 8,93M / Switch 10M

Worldwide sales

Ps3: 22.7 M / Switch: 38.7M

Looks like the majority of most popular option will be correct. I also voted under ( but close to ) 5 million.

Switch has a 10-11,5m holidays... and ends up just short of reaching the ~21m range.
PS4 has a 7-8,3m holidays.... and ends up around atmost ~17m.

People that voted for Switch winning by 10m or more, are nutty.

Well to be fair most of our numbers during the year had the Switch selling a lot more than PS4 while after we found out Ps4 was slightly above. NS will surely sell a fair amount of units more than ps4 but difference will be less than what early numbers made us think.

What early numbers? That's what happens when people extrapolate based on a few weeks o numbers or even months. Anyone that said switch wins by over 5-1-M must be n some cheap crack.Just makes no sense.

It was obvious that sales of the PS4 would fall, and by fall that means fall to around 16M from 18M the previous year which was a fall from 20M the year before that. But people just expected sales of the Switch to sell 9M-10M more units than it did the year before? How? Why? At best it sells 4.5M-5M more than it did the year before...but 10M????? come on.

I'm pretty sure we had big adjustments after announcements made by companies, I remember seeing NS like over a million over ps4 and after adjustments it was like the other way around. But don't get me wrong, I don't think the 10 million difference prediction was ever justifiable

4 people picked ps4 by 20 million.... hahaha, I love the humor.

Maybe a bit nutty but, those that voted that voted ps4 20 million above are... well, I'm not sure. What's 5x nuttier than nutty?

Mastered Ultra Instinct Nutty

But to achieve that level, you have to do nutty things without even thinking about them. They just happen. Naturally.
