Forums - Microsoft Discussion - UPDATED: Games that should have come to Xbox BC. (Definitive List Edition)

X1 version of Forza Horizon 2 has already been removed from the store due to licensing, so that seems very unlikely.
Fez developer doesn't make games any more. I doubt he would touch it again.
Btw. if you have an Xbox One X, the Arkham games are very much playable and better than the originals. Still a bad remaster but a little upgrade over the 360 versions.

Overall still a few notable games left, but last year saw so many excellent games coming to the BC program. Topping that is impossible.

For some reasons the 360 version is still listed. But I find it odd they didn't give away Forza Horizon 2 before it was removed. The 360 version is still possible for BC but maybe not for long.

Simply adding Fez to BC requires no work from the developer, just approval.

The remasters still seem pretty rough on a X1X from what I've seen. More importantly, adding the original 360 games to BC should be a better experience for base console users. There is also the potential of 4K via the X1X. Simply doing that what give Xbox One X the definitive console experience.

It wasn't a great game but I do own it and I never finished it. Hopefully Remember Me gets the treatment in 2019. It's a game I want to love but never gave a chance.

From Original Xbox:

PHANTASY STAR ONLINE (I need this game again in my life)
Capcom vs Snk 2

Xbox 360:
Dust an Elysian tale (Perfect game)

I want Resident Evil 4.

I refuse to pay for it again.

I had it on GC, Wii and 360.

I hear ya, but Capcom's record has been remastered (or planned for remaster) games don't get on BC.

For what its worth you can find RE4 cheap whether it be during a deal or a used physical copy. I like having the X1 version because 1080p/60 fps versus 720p/30 fps on 360. But I think the 360 version is interesting for using the original Gamecube assets.

It's not about the money. It's about the principle. I wouldn't pay a penny for it.

This is coming from a huge RE4 fan.

You can still play the Offline mode and split screen with friends. Of course we lost content without online, but is better than nothing.

Sorry for my bad english.

Not putting RalliSport Challenge 2 in the list of original Xbox its a...shame the gamer in you.

Microsoft has done a fantastic job getting the most notable content of the 360 era on backwards compatibility. Given they're going through the owners of these games, expectations were low on what they could get but they've greatly exceeded the expectations of most I assume.

Ideally everything would be emulated, but that's not gonna happen and getting notable games is most important. In a recent article I saw backwards compatibility ended in 2018 with 550 games in total, with over 100 added in 2018. So what's left to be added? But more importantly what does BC really need that people are demanding and the remaining gems.

In my list there might be games that seem like odd additions or some notable content ignored. Some games were ignored because superior versions exist as ports, while some remain on the list because the ports were disappointments or the original versions are still interesting for reasons.

I think this list will also put into perspective what content could come and perhaps there aren't THAT MANY more games backwards compatibility REALLY NEEDS.

Original Xbox - Notable games, possible or likely additions to BC.
Advent Rising
Arctic Thunder
Area 51
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II

The Warriors (Available on Playstation consoles.)

Original Xbox - Notable but unlikely to be added for licensing reasons.
Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller (Music licensing)
Def Jam: Fight for NY (Still available on PSP, so maybe.)
Jet Set Radio Future (Music licensing)

I assume you're referring to PSO.

If the game still works offline, it absolutely should be on the list. I owned it on Dreamcast and it was enjoyable as a single player game, would be even better with split screen.

Edit: For PSO to even work the console apparently needs a gamertag registered to it. That could be a problem OG Xbox hardware, but in theory it could work fine on BC.

Sounds like a good game but highly unlikely to happen for licensing.
