Why would it be? Unlike the Switch you cannot just add something as simple as HDMI-out port to make a dedicated console into a portable. Its much easier to just leave the portability out all-together, or my personal suspicion, combine their smart phone line by adding to it to make a hybrid handheld console/phone.

It's so sad to see the Wii U numbers really, 2014 there were some really really good first party titles.
Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Captain Toad.. that's a good lineup. Lots of 2018 games there as well ;P

I think It just hit me... all of the games you mentioned were re-released this year, except Smash. O.o

Not MK8 either, but we did get a new itteration of Smash though so lineups are really similar in that regard.

Which won't happen, unfortunately. I can't see Switch outdoing 3DS even alone. I think it would be pretty awesome already if it reached 18m LT there.

How does this make any sense? Beating Wii U + 3DS in the US is pretty much the exact same difficulty as beating them globally.

Japan is the hard mode.

Yes, pure HH power of 3DS in Japan make it harder for a Hybrid to beat in Japan.

And it makes me sad that since PS2 they have been ever moving away from consoles and AAA games.
