"The developers Sony has are not enough to counter Microsoft's existing and new teams together"

this is nonsense. it's amazing how many people have overreacted to MS investing in mostly average studios. The best studio purchase, Playground, was already working for them. Ninja Theory are good but they are not a top tier studio that creates great games that sell consoles. Obsidian are good but they are not the studio that made New Vegas and worked on Kotor. Two of the other studios, Compulsion and Undead Labs, had their last games fail to even reach 70 metacritic.

MS were miles away from Sony before, and now they still are but they have some decent potential at last. but suggesting sony can't compete next gen is laughable. MS have no studio remotely close to Naughty Dog or Santa Monica. They don't have anyone to the standard of Guerilla, Sucker Punch or Media Molecule either imo. Sony don't need to go buy some bang average studios just to make up the numbers like MS are doing.

And that's before you even consider the utterly trash track record MS have of purchasing and then managing studios,

Perhaps he was trying to be funny.

for me it would be media.vision, and give them enough money to make a big jrpg

I don't get how anyone can say Sony doesn't need more talent. The output of their first party studios this gen hasn't been all that incredible. A small handful of good games and a ton of 2nd party stuff they bought or paid others to make. No one would like another racing studio outside of Polyphony? Someone to make good RPG's? MicroSony are both sorely lacking in that area imho and rely pretty much entirely on other developers there.

But most importantly a majority of the good exclusives PS4 has had.. they came from developers Sony bought. Uncharted, LoU, Infamous, Horizon, etc. Personally I hope their output for PS5 is a lot stronger than PS4. They seemed pretty lazy in a lot of areas with PS4 after the competition pretty much imploded pre-launch. Not that I doubt either of the other two would have done the exact same thing, we've seen it with Wii and Kinect era 360 Microsoft.

Nothing supports this critically or commercially.

GOW, Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy, GT Sport, DriveClub, MLB, Horizon, Killzone, inFamous: Second Son, inFamous: First Light, Astrobot VR, Gravity Rush 2, Knack 1+2, The Last Guardian, with stuff like Days Gone, Concrete Genie, Dreams, Medievil Remake, TLOU2, GOT in the pipeline. This isn't even including co - developed stuff like BloodBorne and The Order, Sony owned IP's that are licensed to second/ third parties like LBP3 & SoTC, and PS3 games like GT6 and Puppeter that could have easily been PS4 launch titles.

If you think 15 or so titles over 5 years, most of which are just solid titles at best and nothing spectacular, is incredible, then we can just agree to disagree. And outside of a few heavy hitters, yeah, critically my comment stands true. Commercially I have no idea, idk what these games sell and idc. Ed Sheeran sells a lot of albums. NCIS has a lot of viewers. I should have added imho after that part you bolded, I thought I did. Oh well.

And of course it doesn’t include money deals like Bloodborne or outsourced stuff or 2nd party stuff. This is about studios Sony owned.

And those few heavy hitters I mentioned above that got great critical praise were, again, made by developers Sony bought. Nothing wrong with buying more. There are plenty of genres Sony doesn’t cover.

Platinum would be more successful on PlayStation.

... Ok. Now, why would they be more successful ? Give us justification cuz so far Platinum has been well alive and kick in with their deals with publishers such as SE and Nintendo.

I mean, their two best selling games were both on Sony platforms, but I don't think that Platinum is the best fit for a Sony 1st party studio. I think they'd be fine if they were acquired, but are likely better being independent.

Disagree with the bolded.

Sony will still get Japan exclusive titles which pretty much is the 3rd party support MS doesn't get.

No point investing in multiplayer based studios when the biggest multiplayer games come from 3rd parties.

Of course Japan exclusives will be there, but Japan exclusives are not everything either.

Also keep in mind there competitors both Nintendo and Xbox will be offering exclusive MP games. Its also likely the next Xbox will be aimed to be more powerful so 3rd party games are going to look better else where. With Nintendos quality 1st party games and Xboxs quantity of 1st party studios and both offering there own MP games, makes next gen look interesting.

To me it wouldn't hurt Sony to make there own MP games, hence i think they should buy acouple studios just for that.

They are fine, they dont have to acquire anyone.

Just make sure they dont close studios like they have done for the last two years in a row.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Multiple devs, including Kojima and From SW. If they wanted to buy just one, it would be a difficult choice between From SW and Kojima.

If said studios aren't pulling their weight, disbanding them makes the most sense. Clearly Microsoft agrees as they've done the same.

Right now, Sony can strengthen the studios they have and be just fine (or pick up a studio or two - Quantic Dream would be a likely candidate). They aren't struggling in that arena either way.

Guerrilla Cambridge was forced to make a Vita game, and then a PSVR game. Two platforms with a miniscule install base to begin with.

It's not their fault that the games didn't sell well. Especially when both of these games were well received.

LMAO, if you want Monolith Soft, ask Nintendo first, like hell they will agree

It honestly sounds like you just didn't know Nintendo owned Monolith Soft and now are trying to back out of it.

The thread's topic is which developer should Sony acquire, which I assume has to have some relative reasonableness and logical sense in real world terms, since it's asking which developers should Sony literally acquire.

Of course, if that's what you would want Sony to acquire that's fine ... doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but go ahead.

Yeah no

I have Xenoblade 2 on switch i like xenosaga on PS2 im very aware of monolith softs nintendo connection

That doesn't change the fact i said i wished sony aquired them never did i say i predict Sony will buy monolith soft off nintendo

Seems you misread or misinterpreted my post, no harm done

Too late, when Monolith was on sale in 2007, Sony did nothing but Nintendo stepped in and got them, even make them a lot bigger and more popular today. If you want to wish, you should wish for Sony that they can come back to the past.
