Game sucks. And uglyness is the brand of Bethesda Softworks. They have yet to make a game with good graphics/visuals. Skyrim is only playable for me because of visual enhancement mods.

Maybe switching the engine they have been using since Morrowind could be a good idea for their upcoming games.

They won't.

This game is clearly a hot pile of... poop, and it will still sell more than enough to be profitable. Take the same game, change the setting and call it ES6, and people will run to pre-order it and call them the saviors of gaming.

Because some players decided that Bethesda was amazing and will keep their eyes closed about everything wrong with their games. Even though they clearly are one of the worst developers out there, they're still popular, I don't know why. They're worse than EA, Ubisoft or Activision in my opinion. No one else ever released broken games after broken games while keeping a popular image.

It's a complete mystery to me... How many non-broken games did they release in the last 10 years? Doom?

EDIT: By the way, I just saw a positive user review on Metacritic, in German, but starting with "Deutsch:", and then the review. Clearly something copy pasted from a file with different languages. They have to fake the Metacritic user score to try to be relevant, pathetic...

Maybe people keep buying their games because

A) they’re amazing
B) the amount of jank and bugs and glitches is completely different from person to person

I’ve read nothing but horror stories about how buggy Skyrim was on PS3. I got the platinum and outside of a couple hard crashes early in the game, never had any bad issues. Same with Fallout 3. And New Vegas. And 4.

There’s no need to be confused or bitter that people buy their games despite the technical issues, the issues simply aren’t the same for everyone.

I'm not bitter, more amazed at how people can get scammed again and again by a developer who clearly doesn't care at all about the quality they give to their customers. And the customers keep asking for more and congratulating them... I played Oblivion for maybe 10 hours, found it boring and never had any more interest in their games, but it's still interesting to see how the market behaves around them.

If EA or Ubisoft released something like Fallout 76, there would be an uproar and calls to boycott. But nope, it's Bethesda, so even "hard crash" is considered normal.... Impressive! I hope to work in a company like that some day, to not have to care about if the result of your work is actually working must be very comfy :D I kinda admire Todd for being able to sell stuff like this, when Blizzard gets killed online for a mobile game!

EDIT: I realize that it can seem bitter when you read my comment, but seriously, I'm only taking that as a running joke, just curious to see what will be the next step! I'm sure they can go further! :D

We are not getting scammed.  Most of us that like Bethesda games expect what we get.  You don't enjoy their games, we get it.  You don't have to look down on those of us who find their games some of the most worthwhile out there.  EU4 is just about the only game (besides everquest) that I've sunk more than Bethesda Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.  Even Final Fantasies get less hours by far than those games.

It’s mostly Bethesda fans that are disappointed in the game, are they not? The problem is exactly that FO76 is missing all those things, that made Bethesda games great and let one look past the technical incompetence the games had.

Getting great games you enjoy playing = getting scammed lol.

Try to give people a little more credit than that. If the experiences were a quarter as bad as you make it seem, people would have been out a long time ago.

Even Bethesda fans aren't immune from having the wrong expectations.  The ones I've talked to that aren't liking 76 were essentially expecting Fallout 5.  The problem is we weren't promised that, Fallout 76 is basically just Fallout 4 with multiplayer in west virginia.  Which is kinda what I expected.

We aren't getting Fallout 5 until next gen.

Not the Fallout I would have preferred but I'm still enjoying it. I'm at level 22 and I'd give it a 7/10.

That's correct. I'm a huge Bethesda fan, and I just don't understand why they made this game. I was watching streams and it fell barren and soulless.

The silver lining is, this wake up call for them is done on this useless spinoff, not a mainline game.

The only way I get this is if they improve the game drastically after launch, No Mans Sky style.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Maybe that quote where they said "fallout 76 just wouldn't work on Switch" was a portion of the complete quote of.... "Fallout 76 wouldn't work on Switch, PS4 or X1 but we hope idiots will buy it anyway lol"

Everything I've seen of this is pretty depressing, especially when you can get fallout 4 on the ps4 for about a tenner right now.
