#8 Style Savvy: Styling Star - 3DS

I had the chance of playing the first Style Savvy on the VC of the Wii U and it was actually really good despite me not being into fashion at all, was a quite addictive and wholesome experience, the sequels are exponential improvements, each being better than the last and as the latest title in the series, Styling Star is the very best of the 4.

The premise of the gameplay is basic, you manage a boutique, your stock and then sell items to the various ladies that come in, with their specific requests and what not, is all very simple but insanely addictive, you get a tons of clothes from different brands and styles to choose from and combine and some side activities like nails, makeup and hairstyles, for both you and your clients, plus furniture from different stores for your apartment and boutique.

Now what makes this series really special and more so this game than the previous ones, is that wholesome feeling of helping someone, a lot of us have hobbies to escape from the weight of real life or if we are feeling down, a lot of your clients also have worries, some very minimal and silly and others more complicated and they all come to the boutique for that escape, seeing all of them being happier or just getting what they wanted for clothes, makes me feel happy as well.

This is boasted by Styling Star having a heavier focus on narrative, you have 3 big storylines following 3 girls becoming idols, each with their own character arc, one that doesn’t see eye to eye with her mother, other hiding her online persona from a friend and a farm girl trying to make it big alongside the development of her best friend/tsundere lover. Its all very well done and on top of that, a lot of continuous side stories featuring a lot of other character.

The soundtrack is another worth noting element from the game, great instrumental tracks for the different locations and a good variety to select from to play at your boutique, plus the main characters being idols, there are plenty of lyrical tracks as well, most in both Japanese and English.

Overall, Styling Star is very relaxing and feel good game, even if you are not into fashion, is a rather addictive and accessible series, a relaxing simulator akin to the Animal Crossing games, the three 3DS titles all have demos to try out as well if you are ever interested or curious about this really nice underrated series.

As a side note I’m super happy we got a Styling Star song in Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I posted here just to be the thousandth reply. Yay.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Correct!

4. Final Fantasy Tactics?

I'll put hints for my last five games here as well. Probably going to be away for much of the rest of the year.

#5: This strategy RPG game that is set in an alternate history Europe in 1935 takes much of the inspiration for its story from many real-life events that took place in Europe during the first half of the 20th century.

#4: The sun illuminating the home of the gods is just an illusion.

#3: A space combat sim, set 32 years after the events of the first game and tells about the return of the alien race that almost destroyed humanity in the first game.

#2: Dragoons.

#1: A kidnapping goes much smoother than expected, mostly because the victim actually wanted to come along anyway.

Final Fantasy Tactics is correct!

My guesses on yours:
5. Valkyria Chronicles
2. Legend of Dragoon or Final Fantasy IV
1. Final Fantasy IX

Correct on all three (2 is The Legend of Dragoon)

#9
Bloodborne
Change YoY: +2

The more I look back at Bloodborne the more I realize just how exceptional it really is as a game and an experience. It's been a little while since I've played it through, and I have a feeling that once I do go back and replay it one of these days it's going to jump up a few spots in my top 50, maybe even into the top 5. Very few games have ever felt so impeccably designed and thought out. Every tiny little detail in the game's world seems to have a purpose and meaning, and if you wanted you could spend hundreds of hours just digging into the vast lore the game presents its players with.

This is an experience quite unlike any other I've ever had in video games or otherwise, and while it is already among my favourite games ever, it could end up even higher at some point in the future. Right now it's one of my top 2 games of this console generation, and something quite special has to come along to unseat it from that position.

Just two games remain unguessed in my entire top 50.
#4: (1) The sun illuminating the home of the gods is just an illusion. (2) Will you perpetuate the cycle of the gods, or let the age of dark take over?
#3: (1) A space combat sim, set 32 years after the events of the first game and tells about the return of the alien race that almost destroyed humanity in the first game. (2) Developed by Volition before they became known for the Saints Row and Red Faction games.

Mario Kart 64

  • Guessed by Flilix

'Mario Kart 64' is the best game in the racing genre ever made to me. Maybe this is debatable and objectively not so in today's world, even in it's own series, but to me, it undoubtedly is. This is because of what it did back in the day as a game, and what it meant to me as a gamer, or bigger yet, as a person. Because of the amount of time I spent with it, and the amount of fun, I had with it.

The formula of the 'Mario Kart' series, should be familiar. Being among the most successful series in all of gaming, there's probably not a lot of people who haven't played one of the games of the series at least once, and even less that never heard of it at all. In this case, the game features the classic four cups each with four courses and each playable character has it's own themed course. With the help of items the player attempts to win first place.

This game was legendary in my family. Many years ago, when we were all still together, we would all participate in tournaments. My parents, two of my cousins, my aunt and uncle, and me. Grandmother was always happy just watching in the background. At one time though, my third cousin was actually present. A rarity. It was the last time I ever saw him, as family perils and other drama broke up much of the family. I remember it like it was the day before yesterday: My mother and stepfather were Peach and Yoshi respectively, like they always were. My cousins were Donkey Kong and Toad like they always were and my third cousin took up Luigi. My aunt was Wario, she usually won, contrary to my uncle, who was Bowser and always got the Lightning power-up for being in last place. And I, I was Mario, holding my own. This game means family, and memory. Memory of lost loved ones.
