Red Dead Redemption 2 Comes in 2 Disk

Forums - Gaming Discussion - Red Dead Redemption 2 Comes in 2 Disk

"That's right, following several rumours suggesting multiple discs for the physical edition of the open world western, new images from retailers and several other sources have indeed confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature two discs for the price of one.

The first, known as the "data disc", is used purely for installing most of the game onto your system of choice, while the "play disc" is the one you'll be running to actually boot up and start playing the title itself"

This will probably be the norm next gen for physical games.

And there will still be crap that needs to be downloaded

^ Blu-Ray XL will have 125GB discs.... so it might not be needed for most games, next gen.

Problem is they are just as expensive, if not more expensive, than the 64 and 32 gig Switch carts.  You see what happened there.  Expect more partial  download installs coming to Sony and MS now, or multi disk games.  In the end, it is whichever is cheaper.  It is the partial downloads

"Physical media is so great. You just pop it in and play"

Old news.

PC gaming is such a chore. Oh, wait, wrong topic!

End of 2016 hardware sales:

Wii U: 15 million. PS4: 54 million. One: 30 million. 3DS: 64.8 million. PSVita: 15.2 million.

well blu ray discs that support 100 gigabytes or more are still too expensive, and the price seem to remain high for quite sometime.

A great advertisement for going digital. This will surely push a certain percentage to download it now rather then physical.
