Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Huawei Claim their Phone is Better Than Switch

So it's a 1000€ machine that will only be useful for mobile games and portable emulation. Not worth the asking price at all, specially in a couple of years into the future, when the Switch's homebrew scene has evolved to get the most out of the console.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

No surprise to see today's top tier phones being better graphically than handheld consoles.

costs $1000, has no dedicated support, runs Android, is F***ing huge for a phone, doesnt have a TV dock, its only buttons are a weird peripheral

yeah thats not gonna happen

It probably is.

And here I thought they would claim their product isn't better than the Switch.

It’s definitely only a short matter of time before Razer comes out with their gaming phone that trumps Switch. Granted, phone games themselves are pretty far behind anything available on the Switch, but hardware-wise Switch was always kind of doomed to be beat out eventually.

??????????

Pretty sure tech wise Switch was beat out before it even came out. When are people going to understand that doesn't matter in relation to handheld game consoles? Supposedly, never.

The thing with the handheld market against mobile has always been the clash between quality software and accesibility. Everyone has a phone, everyone has access to the sea of FTP mobile offerings, and no dedicated handheld console is going to take that away from mobile. But it is also irrelevant due to the nature of the mobile market itself: it thrives on convinience over depth, and a 1000$ piece of hardware limited only to the games (and control scheme) of a phone is doomed to fail against a dedicated gaming hardware that has access to quality software. The only exception to this is Apple, and that's mostly due to brand recognition.

Not at $900 with half a controller. It may have better specs than the Switch, but the Switch is actually a much better designed and more affordable device with a better library. Saying your system has 500 omniflops and unlimited ram pumped into it means nothing if it's expensive as hell and lacks a compelling lineup. And people wonder why Nintendo dominates the dedicated mobile gaming space, their competitors continue to not learn their lesson.

Can’t play Zelda though, in that even a PC (emulation doesn’t count obviously) isn’t better than the Switch.

Why doesn't it count?

Didn't help that Nintendo chose pretty average hardware for the Switch either.

Except... Huawei isn't claiming that their device is:
* More affordable.
* Better games library.
* Cheaper.

They are basically saying that their phone has the technical advantage, which it does, on almost every front.
Their claim that it is the best portable gamins machine is a bit of a stretch considering personal taste/advertising angle they are taking anyway.
