Forums - Sony Discussion - Playstation Classic Announced, releasing in December 3rd with 20 games pre-loaded and cost $99

MEH!

I hate these half steps that Sony and Nintendo are doing.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I just hope it is as coveniently hackable as the Nintendo classic editions have been so far.

I hope a N64 mini comes out as well. If theres fan demand for it do it!

Nintendo and MS would have to work together to release that one. What games do you release on that thing (except the big Nintendo ones) if you cant have Rare games?

The Rare games were mostly clones of Nintendo games, anyway. Except Goldeneye, Jet Force Gemini and Perfect Dark. They could go for Acclaim games instead, like Turok 1+2 or Extreme-G.

Nintendo starts releasing mini consoles.

Sega releases retro mini consoles.

Even Atar releases a retro mini console.

Sony: Hold my beer.

Both Sega and Atari did this way before Nintendo though.

But Nintendo made it a big thing.

It's not the first time Sony has copied something Nintendo has done, and it won't be the last. It's nice to try and pretend that the companies we spend money on are loving, caring, and would be the best of friends if they were real people, but the reality is that they are a business looking to make money, and as long as they deem that the backlash they get from copying a competitor is less than the profits they will rake in (i.e., an overall net gain), then it doesn't really matter to them.

Right, and I have no problem with that. Nintendo created a competitive spirit with their classic line. It'd be stupid for Sony not to release one and we all sort of expected it. The goal is to make money. I just think calling it PSOne Classic...like their marketing team or software/hardware planning team couldn't come up with a different name than their rivals? That's just kind of embarrassing.

How so exactly? The name makes sense. Sony had patents in circulation about the PS Wand before the Wii was even out.

Come on Sony, announce the games please!

Looks kind of big though, the Nintendo ones are tiny, but maybe I just need to see it in real-life.

It looks kinda similar in size to NES and SNES Classic, no?

They could of course be using a giant hand.

Mmm yeah. The Nintendo ones fit in the palm of your hand, but looking at this picture, maybe it’s not that much bigger after all lol.

And you are aware that Nintendo didn't have Wii patents before the PS Wand? Come on... And if they really cared about the "PS Wand" they would have taken the Wii technology that was shopped around to Sony and Microsoft (which they laughed away) before coming to Nintendo and Nintendo accepted the idea. We don't know exactly when a device was conceived or prototyped, only finished and that's all that matters in the technological world. Nobody remembers Xerox for the computer mouse...do they?

I'm not saying the name doesn't make sense....that's not my argument. My argument is that it's unoriginal and cheesy due to the fact its coming out right after the NES and SNES Classic. I thought Sony wanted to do everything they could to be different from Nintendo. You don't come out with a console like this, have the same suffix as your rival and don't expect people to point it out. I mean really, as rivals they were just asking for it.

But this has gone on too long...if you feel it isn't a bit embarrassing, who am I to tell you you're wrong. This is how I feel about it.

As a guy that enjoys going back in time, I hope people are ready to have their cherished memories destroyed.

So, how much longer until we see an OG Xbox Classic?
