So you’re telling me that Spidey sold more than 116k retail copies in its second week?
Holy spiderweb

That's the real megaton here. Beat God of wars first week with it's second week. That's truly MEGATON news.

Talk about bloodbath (SpiderMan second week really smoke UC4 and GoW).

And X1 version selling half of it's previous entry on the same system even having higher userbase put to rest that the justification for the gap between it and PS4 is due to the consoles owned, the game simply did bad and unfortunately worse than that on X1.

I think you have a point about it doing bad.  I mean lets not even look at the PS4 first.  What you are looking at is a very steep drop from 42k to 19k FW from Rise to Shadow.  Thats massive.

On a side note, look at the PS4 numbers and assume that the game still did terrible.  This show that Tomb Raider clearly has more fans on PS4.  Why is this important?   Because it means that Rise's FW would have been a heck of a lot higher if it had of released as multiplat from the start.

On the side of a side note, Crystal was quoted as saying that they were not worried about Spiderman.  I honestly don't think that the game would have sold much better without Spiderman so yeah...

I'm still playing Spider-man, TR reboot is a maybe when I get bored in Februari kind of game. However with titles slipping into the post Holiday season nowadays I might just miss it entirely.

That's what happened ROTTR for me and i still haven't gotten around to buying it despite it being as low as 10$ on sale. Even spiderman right now is a wait until December or January and buy it on sale because I'm too busy with other games atm.

So what hope is there for this new tomb raider. At this stage I'll probably only play the last one if it's free on ps plus. And this one idk maybe a few years on cheap sale or ps plus again.

Uncharted 4 and lost legacy have completely satisfied my need for a game like this and i actually will be going back through uncharted 4 to platinum it so there's that.

Also second week of Spiderman is more than doubling (could as well say almost tripling) combined sales of Shadow first week.

Yes Tomb Raider (and the genre) have more fans on PS4, and certainly Rise would sell much better if launched on PS4 at the same time.

I got no hate for Crystal and didn't boycott any of the 3 Tomb Raider, but for me it became a more budget purchase than day one since the time of the original trilogy. I like the game but not crazy about it to put 60 USD upfront.

Well perhaps sales would be the same without Spider-man, but we can't be sure.

25% up and on the same week as one of Playstations biggest exclusives and they are still saying it under performed? Give it some time before automatically dismissing it. I'm sure it'll end up selling around the same as Rise of the Tomb Raider.

It underperformed and we know by looking at Xbox One.  The reason why people say this is by comparing 36k to 19k.  By looking at XO numbers we can see a huge decline.  This was marketed on Xbox One so it is very telling.  There is no way around this.  The sales on Xbox has gone up in the 3 years since Rise so a 48% drop on Xbox alone tells you what you need to know.  Spiderman wasn't on Xbox so how do you explain the massive decline on that platform?  36k to 19k...  what freaking happened here?  Clearly, for it to not underperform, Xbox One numbers should have been much higher.

For more proof look at Rise total debut XO/PS4 in UK

XO:36k 11/15

PS4:33k 10/16

Total 69k

So the total Debut of Rise excluding Xbox 360 was 69k

The total Debut of Shadow was 52k

That is a decline of 25% (excluding 360 which makes 30% decline)

It underperformed.

What are you talking about?

SpiderMan second week is like 2-3x bigger than Shadow first week combined.

It is only up because it is comparing X1+neglible X360 against PS4+X1. But looking at Xbox alone it had a massive drop.
