So we are commemorating an old port finally made? I thought they had announced the remake to also come to Switch at launch.

So excited about this. FFVII was truly an amazing experience...almost beginning to end. It really let me down in the last chapter, kind of like Donnie Darko does. But nonetheless, a masterful game with amazing cutscenes and great characters. It's en vogue to knock this game and say VI is better, which I really can't say one way or another. But I don't think enough can be said about this game in revolutionizing and modernizing RPGs and truly bringing them to the masses.

FFVII is the Nirvana of RPG gaming...it may have built on existing ideas and art styles, but the way it packaged those in a palatable, visually amazing form can't be understated.

I'm glad I'm not the only person on the site who gets it!

It's an incredible homecoming. And while I've always wanted to play FF7 in particular, something always got in the way. Being an N64 owner. The crazy high prices of FF7 at resale. The long-lack of a digital or portable way to play the game.

As someone brought up on FF4 and FF6 on SNES and later FFX and FFXII on PS2 - I consider myself an old-school FF fan even if I don't know FF7 inside and out.

I'm holding out some hope for FF7 Remake to come in some way too - even if we didn't get full version of FF15.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The announcement of the Crystal Chronicles remake and all of these FF games is what made this Direct so amazing for me. I will be supporting their endeavors by purchasing all of them. The last time I played and beat FF7 was my Sophomore year of college, which was a good decade ago, and it's been even longer since I played and beat FFCC.

Now I'm wondering if we're going to have a similar wait time for the VII Remake. Has SE said something since its announcement?

I don't remember, but what I'm wondering is why are they skipping Final Fantasy VIII in the Final Fantasy re-releases. Skipping Final Fantasy XI makes sense because it's an MMO.

Is a nice read,

What the actual fuck?

It shows just how much of a power trip Nintendo was on back in the mid-90's.   Nintendo basically created the Playstation platform due to their own arrogant mishandling of their contract with Sony.  I just don't get how you kill your golden goose like this, Nintendo could have so easily dominated the 5th generation if they just played their cards a little more carefully and reined in the ego.  Imagine a console with a lineup of exclusives like FFVII, GTA, Metal Gear Solid, Mario 64, Zelda, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc... This is what the N64 could have been.  Nintendo is just lucky that they have so much talent as a game maker because they have made multiple business decisions in the last 20 years would have sunk 95% of companies out there.

Great news I guess. I've had most of these games on Vita and PSP forever. If there's no upgrade, it's hard to get excited. I'm probably gonna get FF12, though!

Just thinking about that CD-based N64 in an alternate timeline. Is there any doubt it would have been inarguably the greatest console ever released?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I would pay $60 to have Final Fantasy 7 physical on the Switch. I am not joking. Having that game on a cartridge would be too awesome to skip out on. Maybe in 10 years, people will make pirated carts for that game.

I will also like the say Final Fantasy VII was a good game and I can see why people liked it so much. But honestly, it could be renamed "My first JRPG" because people who are experienced JRPG gamers would be less impressed with it. It is fine though. Most games from the 5th generation aged terribly anyway.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true
