Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom and the Switch

Given that this demo has received so much attention for what it is offering you have to think too that a great number of people both in Japan and around the world are going to be connecting to their servers to test out the free 15 mins, I didn't download the client yet because I know that now would be a horrible stress test on the cloud infrastructure that they're using, let alone the additional trouble I'll have playing it in Europe.

But I guess since it's free you can use the demo to get hits on youtube if you wanted to right now.

Wonder if you pan back on that persons channel will he have any videos of wow expansion launches having a queue to login...

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Maybe you should ring their doorbell and then run away.

Lol the guy in the video even says he is in America and is expecting to be booted off the server.

Why is this even a topic? I am against it being on cloud but even I can tell this is a bait topic. All it proves is that anyone on a shitty internet connection will struggle to play.

On a side note yes I am still shitty it is on Cloud I want a physical version lol

Just giving a YouTubers hits for sensationalism is the way of the world it seems

Yer but at least this YouTuber you can respect he throws up so many disclaimers about playing from America it is like people ignored them all. Even in the video comments.

This one's better. It's someone playing (seemingly) from Japan.

A few stutters but surprisingly quite playable.

Capcom has lost a customer concerning myself, and it's going to be very difficult for them to win me back. I have money that can go to other devs who actually put in the minimum amount of effort.

Around the Network

I agree that they are being a bit cheap when it comes to the Switch, but at least they are supporting it. Nintendo platforms are usually not exactly amazing for third parties, so calling them crap is a bit too much imo.

Like others already said, it's running very far away from it's server of origin ...

Edited thread title and removed the foul language from the OP.

While I don't think that video is proof of anything damning (given as others have said, the Japan-based server), it's pretty clear that Capcom didn't anticipate Switch being successful and didn't have any major projects in development for it.

As you say, everything they're bringing out are either ports, test products (like this cloud version of Resi 7), or middle-tier games (new Phoenix Wright at some point, Mega Man 11 this year). That's entirely a reflection of the fact that any major game Capcom put on Switch is likely not going to launch until the second half of next year at the earliest, so they're putting out what they can in the mean-time to try and capitalise on Switch's success. As the developers of Monster Hunter World pointed out, they began development in 2014, long before Switch was a known quantity. Operating on those kinds of timescales means Capcom have been caught with their pants down.

I agree Capcom isn't great but to be fair, who exactly is the fold standard for support putting their titles on the platform outside of indies?

Capcom themselves really only have three major IP left with Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and Resident Evil. Technically the Switch has gotten a version of All of those which have been ports but given the surprise the Switch seemed to have taken over as the number 2 console, I can't blame them for not having games custom made for the system.
